The only thing more awesome than caves is underwater caves

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

The bottom half is water.

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

Also after you walked about a kilometre underground you come to a concert hall with a piano in it.
http://www.cabildodelanzarote.com/Uploads/img/20070213104105164.jpg
It's awesome.

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 19:55 (fifteen years ago)

I went caving a lot in college (Indiana, Buckner Caves) and would spend whole days down there with friends. I really enjoyed it.

sleeve, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 19:57 (fifteen years ago)

I would have thought someone would have posted that Achewood strip by now tbh.

That one that Ned posted in Lanzarote, I've been somewhere else with a concert hall in it. Gibraltar, maybe?

Had intended to do a boat trip to this cave this year, but haven't got round to it yet. Soon.

No, I read it and holy shit WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO DO THAT?!

ENBB, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 01:31 (fifteen years ago)

Caves RULE! if you can light them properly and there aren't weird mutant-creatures living inside of them.

Watch out behind you - o man, that movie is so awesome. I watch a lot of scary movies, so I have generally been desensitized to them (I actually wish I were scared more than I am) The Descent genuinely gave me the creeps. Not recommended for anyone with claustrophobia.

It's pretty obvious here, but at Blanchard Springs Caverns located about two hours north of here, they always spotlight this feature and ask, "Do you see the ship?" And about half of the tour group always looks around and goes "The fuck is she talking about?"

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 02:47 (fifteen years ago)

i think after ATP next year I might go cavin in the catskillz

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 02:48 (fifteen years ago)

I would go into a cave as long as it's safe and awesome and not scary and treacherous.

ENBB, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 02:50 (fifteen years ago)

I have only been to Jenolan Caves.

I've been to Howe Caverns which is in the Catskills but I think that's it.

This is another of the first cave in Vietnam. Look closely and you can see a guy towards the back. It really gives you a sense of how big it is!

ENBB, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 03:30 (fifteen years ago)

One of my pet peeves is that every cave which is also a tourist destination is illuminated in completely garish colors. What's wrong with a soft, incandescent yellow or white?

I don't think I've ever been to a cave in the winter. I like the thought that it would be warmer underground than outside.

two years pass...

From: http://www.behance.net/samebody/frame/6439573

Natalie Avseenko and PHOTOTEAM.PRO undertook a new art-project in Ordynskaya Cave next to Perm city, Russia. Natalie had series of freediving session inside one of the largest gypsum caves. There was dark and cold (the water temperature was around +5C, the outside temperature was -35C), there was no chance to get to the surface and took a breath, there was roof above her all the time. Natalie, holding her breath and overcoming all the challenges she faced with, acted as the spirit of the cave who was kind, with big soul, caring... There is a legend that there is a Lady of the Cave who is very beautiful and charming. The lady is taking care of all the divers entering that incredible "natural cathedral". So, Natalie, literally speaking, had to settle down in the cave and she managed to do that.
