Oh man. See, the thing is, I eat sandwiches SO MUCH that right now pizza sounds more appealing. But part of the reason I eat sandwiches so much, apart from laziness (it's what I make at home when I'm too lazy to cook, and it's what I buy for lunch when I don't have anything to bring from home) is that they're so versatile, and a really well-made sandwich can be sublime.

this is tough, because there are a lot of sandwiches i strongly dislike. but a good sandwich is one of the best things around. tougher to make a really transcendent pizza imo.

normally i would vote for sandwiches over pizza (even though pizza is pizza), but last night i had one of my favorite sandwiches in town (a banh mi-like pork sandwich) and got a really weird stomach ache for the rest of the night, so i'm voting pizza out of spite.

Come on guys, pizza is the best. Sandwiches are good, but they're either boring or over-complicated and rarely anywhere in between. (I do adore a good croque monsieur but a) that is beyond sandwich, and b) it's still not as good as pizza.)

This is good advice. the porous nature of the bread will prevent spillage far better than meat, cheese or lettuce. This also works for tomatoes.

what i been doing at work is 'toasting' bread 1-sided on the flat top at work and melting cheese over the avocado into the soft side of the bread but i feel like there should be a way to cram it into a stack of veggies that it won't create a sandwich fault line.

In my extensive torta experience the avocado is almost always sliced thin and laid down the centerline of the sandwich. You're definitely not getting it in every bite, but it's not squeezing out the sides, either.

This is not counting the torta aguacate, in which the avocado is the main filling of the sandwich. That shit gets everywhere no matter what.
