Ludo, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:16 (fifteen years ago)

brash trash talker (dan m), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:16 (fifteen years ago)

ludo also otm

wishes to be referred under the pseudonym of kronos (call all destroyer), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:17 (fifteen years ago)

Allen Iverson
Isiah Thomas
Stephon Marbury
John McEnroe

These four should own this poll IMO.

Four-TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! (HI DERE), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:17 (fifteen years ago)

I don't watch football but I can't believe Favre isn't on this list

brash trash talker (dan m), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:18 (fifteen years ago)

I thought Favre-hate was mostly a MN thing.

Four-TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! (HI DERE), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:18 (fifteen years ago)

you like all those dudes? i cast my vote for TO.

omar little, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:18 (fifteen years ago)

favre, clemens, armstrong, bonds, and jeter imo

omar little, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

ai should not be in with these jokers.

wishes to be referred under the pseudonym of kronos (call all destroyer), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

TO is very compelling from an entertainment perspective but I don't actually like him. I do like the 4 I listed, esp. Iverson.

Four-TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! (HI DERE), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

manny on this list is retarded. baseball fans that aren't racist love manny!

wishes to be referred under the pseudonym of kronos (call all destroyer), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

lack of bonds truly a measure of how far the man has fallen. rip.

velko, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

Cristiano Ronaldo
Sean Avery
Tie Domi

brash trash talker (dan m), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:21 (fifteen years ago)

well i think the lack of bonds and clemens indicates "retired" dudes are out of bounds.

wishes to be referred under the pseudonym of kronos (call all destroyer), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:21 (fifteen years ago)

how could people not like Manny Ramirez?

peter in montreal, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:22 (fifteen years ago)

McEnroe's very well liked in Britain now, much like the pantomime villain who comes around to the good guys in the end. Barely know any of the rest of them. Must have left Ronaldo out as he'd walk the poll.

DJ Angoreinhardt (Billy Dods), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:22 (fifteen years ago)

john mcenroe still playing?

velko, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:23 (fifteen years ago)

I think Manny is on here to stand in for Sosa, Canseco, Bonds, retired steriod dudes. Not for any racist bullshit reason.

3 mods 1 banhammer (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:23 (fifteen years ago)

i was reading this list and thinking "ORLY america?" until i got to the last two dudes, but i'm still thinking "ORLY" a little bit.

omar little, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:23 (fifteen years ago)

McEnroe is funny as a tv pundit, but an absolute disgrace as a player.

what was the name of the figure skater who had her opponent legs (or whatever) destroyed.

Ludo, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

tonya harding!!

wishes to be referred under the pseudonym of kronos (call all destroyer), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

multi xpost, no, goofs around on the senior circuit, but he's one of the main commentators on the BBC during Wimbledon.

DJ Angoreinhardt (Billy Dods), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

The best thing about that is that I think ppl still hate Nancy Kerrigan (the skater who was attacked) more.

Four-TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! (HI DERE), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:25 (fifteen years ago)

McEnroe

Beanbag the Gardener (WmC), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:26 (fifteen years ago)

i think folks kinda pity tonya harding

omar little, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:26 (fifteen years ago)

tonya harding!!

ah yes, i am going to read that (probably highly entertaining) Wikipedi-article.

Ludo, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:26 (fifteen years ago)

poor tonya

mark cl, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

shiiiit Tonya did a sextape! :)

Ludo, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

It's good to see that the public has forgiven Latrell Sprewell for choking his racist coach.

Four-TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! (HI DERE), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:28 (fifteen years ago)

lol no joey barton or ashley cole. also gotta guess that pepe isn't well liked these days. or any of the many rapists in the game (hey, anyone notice that robinho's scandal went away without the girl retracting it or any sort of court case or anything?). Also, if McEnroe makes it as an all-timer then why no OJ Simpson or Louis Figo (having a pigs head thrown at you - a pretty big indicator of whether you are liked or disliked) etc.

Stupid fucking poll.

Seven Swagurai (a hoy hoy), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:28 (fifteen years ago)

Iverson is the only one I've met, and he was an entirely down to earth and decent dude. Though he totally dunked over me and laughed.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

Tonya boxed as well, that's almost Andy Kaufmanesk. (i'll quit now)

Ludo, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

In some cultures, having a pig's head thrown at you is a sign of respect.

Four-TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! (HI DERE), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

xxxp it's an american poll you goof

wishes to be referred under the pseudonym of kronos (call all destroyer), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

ez snappin is shawn bradley

omar little, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:30 (fifteen years ago)

loooool

Four-TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! (HI DERE), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:30 (fifteen years ago)

Ok if its just an american poll, surely there could be someone worse than Iverson, who seems like he's just a bit of a douche (lol american swears)?

Seven Swagurai (a hoy hoy), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:32 (fifteen years ago)

yes and if you noticed we are all criticizing it without rambling about "footballers"

wishes to be referred under the pseudonym of kronos (call all destroyer), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:33 (fifteen years ago)

I mentioned a footballer fyi

brash trash talker (dan m), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:34 (fifteen years ago)

"He can hit, he can play defense in his home park, he’s smarter than any of us give him credit for—lost in the hullaballoo over his off-day comments was that he was absolutely, without a doubt, correct—and he seems to love playing baseball. He’s almost a bright-line test for humankind; if you just divided the world into “people who like Manny Ramirez” and “everyone else,” which group would you rather hang out with?" - Joe Sheehan

ice cr?m paint job (milo z), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:35 (fifteen years ago)

And I was joining in with the criticism, after I finished rambling. xpost.

Seven Swagurai (a hoy hoy), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:36 (fifteen years ago)

the answer is The Answer

wide swing juggalo (Euler), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:39 (fifteen years ago)

Someone should do a poll for most disliked soccerball players but I guess 50 options won't be enough.

DJ Angoreinhardt (Billy Dods), Friday, 31 July 2009 20:43 (fifteen years ago)

The saddest part of Iverson dunking on me was I'm a good 6" or 7" taller than him (he can't be more than 5'10"), and he just went around my outstretched hand to throw it down. Luckily, a street ball game back in '94 isn't in his highlight reel. He was polite enough to say he remembered those games when I was re-introduced to him years later.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 31 July 2009 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

much love for iverson's *practice* clip. he got mocked for it but the guy says the word 10 times and it still sounds fresh.

bnw, Friday, 31 July 2009 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

seriously though, it's actually favre.

pollster grifter (the schef (adam schefter ha ha)), Friday, 31 July 2009 21:25 (fifteen years ago)

x-post

Iverson says practice like it was a Mamet script; every possible inflection and emphasis until it means anything and nothing. Total masterpiece.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 31 July 2009 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, Allen Iverson has no place on this poll.

There should be an owners poll:

Mark Cuban
Al Davis (maybe too pathetic to be hated)
Daniel Snyder
George Steinbrenner (maybe less hated nowadays?)
Jerry Jones (my vote)
Art Modell

Super Cub, Friday, 31 July 2009 21:46 (fifteen years ago)

I've heard of Kobe Bryant, don't know what sport he plays though, and John McEnroe <--------- British perspective

Bill Magill, Thursday, 13 August 2009 13:50 (fifteen years ago)

The clue's in the title, britishes would say "the ten most disliked people in sport"

Hamburgers are such an American thing I'd never make that mistake. But "Mc" + tennis sounds British to me. I know nothing about sports though.

Tuomas, Thursday, 13 August 2009 14:10 (fifteen years ago)

Englishman Bill Magill is keeping uncharacteristically quiet

Indiana Morbs and the Curse of the Ivy League Chorister (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 13 August 2009 14:49 (fifteen years ago)

John McEnroe is not "in sports." Why not add Woody Hayes and Ty Cobb?

Indiana Morbs and the Curse of the Ivy League Chorister (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 13 August 2009 14:50 (fifteen years ago)

McEnroe has the advantage over the other two by actually being alive and also "in sports". Didn't you see the recent World Team Tennis brawl he initiated? Hayes would be proud

Bill Magill, Thursday, 13 August 2009 14:53 (fifteen years ago)
