oh damnnnnnn

see... i feel unqualified to vote bc i haven't seen homicide in ages and i made a point of watching every episode of the wire. but what if i watched every episode of homicide? i might lean towards that. impossible to say!

i want every goddamn one of you to think long and hard before voting, and remember that homicide gave us the character of John Munch, one of the greatest television characters ever.

I think if you'd done Homicide season 1 vs. The Wire season 1, it would've been verrrrrry difficult for me to choose. I do love the latter seasons of Homicide, but they're positively embryonic in comparison to the ambition of The Wire. To the point where this is almost apples and oranges.

would be close except homicide fell off a cliff in braugher's couple seasons.

For me, it's not much of a choice, because I Netflixed the first 2.5 seasons of LOTS and quit in the middle of season 3 out of sheer annoyance. I want to say that LOTS is more actory, and a very dated kind of actory, i.e. acting setpieces where Andre Braugher yells at a suspect.

Rewatched The Wire S1 and thought it was very unremarkable.

(braugher's last couple seasons I meant.)

I have such strong emotional attachments to Homicide - worked down the street from the main Fells Point locations, part of an episode was shot at my workplace, my wife was an extra, etc.

But the Wire is better, especially when you have the last couple of seasons of Homicide dragging like an anchor. The first few seasons were so damn good though...

Ah, hell, sentimental vote for Homicide.

the first three seasons of homicide are on a different level from the Wire, as much as I loved both shows.

And even with the step decline of Homicide, there was still the amazing "Subway" episode, which is better than any episode of the Wire.
