Almodovar.

Think I am probably the world's only person having a real tough time choosing between Kenneth Anger & Spike Lee.

john q. lazzarus (donna rouge), Monday, 3 August 2009 16:20 (sixteen years ago)

between Lewis & Fuller for me - leaning toward Fuller but that's mainly because I was big in HG Lewis movies when I was a kid whereas I just found out about Samuel Fuller last year yes that's right stfu film snobs

the evil genius of Zaiger Genetics (J0hn D.), Monday, 3 August 2009 17:09 (sixteen years ago)

Lynch vs. Fassbinder is a toughie

Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Monday, 3 August 2009 17:10 (sixteen years ago)

Only one of these I can discount right off is Almodóvar. I like him, but he's sorta outta place here.

sir-mounter (Eric H.), Monday, 3 August 2009 17:14 (sixteen years ago)

Screw it, I'm just gonna vote Fuller since I just watched White Dog.

sir-mounter (Eric H.), Monday, 3 August 2009 17:14 (sixteen years ago)

The David Lynch tat across the ten knuckles is hilarious shit.

The Perfect Weapon 2, Wednesday, 5 August 2009 08:21 (fifteen years ago)

Has Udo Kier ever been in a John Waters movie?

free jazz and mumia (sarahel), Wednesday, 5 August 2009 09:36 (fifteen years ago)

Fassbinder.

Seems to me Spike Lee is the one who doesn't belong, with his one great film.

Indiana Morbs and the Curse of the Ivy League Chorister (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 5 August 2009 12:02 (fifteen years ago)

I think the qualifying factor isn't the number of great films these directors have made but their stylistic and political pugnacity.

sir-mounter (Eric H.), Wednesday, 5 August 2009 13:50 (fifteen years ago)

Peckinpah, Fuller, & Lynch. are my fave three. and also a great name for a law-firm.

scott seward, Wednesday, 5 August 2009 14:00 (fifteen years ago)

well, I usually find Pedro and RWF's politics more organic than Spike's "POLITICS"

Indiana Morbs and the Curse of the Ivy League Chorister (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 5 August 2009 14:01 (fifteen years ago)

organic's got nothing to do with it; we're talking arrogance here

sir-mounter (Eric H.), Wednesday, 5 August 2009 14:53 (fifteen years ago)

I really gotta dig into Fuller - he's the only one on this list I don't feel I have a very good grasp of

the Jesus youth/cigarette-smoking skeleton collage with 'wipeout' on the soundtrack, while crude and completely unrepresentative of the sheer beauty of his work, is one reason why i voted for Anger.

Adam Bruneau, Sunday, 9 August 2009 23:50 (fifteen years ago)

i loved this movie almost entirely btw but the 'demented for life' song was fucking retarded

You know what bothered me? That the whole "demented forever" chorus is basically the chorus to Judas Priest's "Exciter".
So now that song's ruined too. Not that it was a highlight of JP's songbook.
