Just asking.

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Glasshouse Stores, early evening and then maybe some Chinese food?

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you saying this on PURPOSE as I rant against the horror of booze?

I could always stick to a soft drink. I am well up for Chinese food though!

Sarah, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

aw, i have other plans, and none involving booze, but healthy raw fish and vegetable juice. num, and in a very real sense, num.

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe, although i am supposed to be sorting out my life

gareth, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

gah i haf a leaving do to go to. have a fab time *snif*

katie, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sort it out over dim sum/fabulously rude staff at wong kei/lovely CHAT gareth!!

Sarah, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe if i get enuff work done

mark s, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yum yum booze. Sorry, I meant num num bouze.

Emma, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I wish I worked in cen London then I'd come, but I think I'll be staying in the 'burbs tonight.

jel --, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can come. Possibly have to leave early though. Can we set some times?

Graham, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It was not in response to your rant Sarah but I disagree in any case - drink is like a hypnotist, it can't make anyone do anything they don't secretly want to. I am always a model of control and decorum when on the ale.

Time? Blimey is "early evening" not good enough? OK "when I get this press release written and these charts done" then, how about that?

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom you are talking nonsense, when I think of all the ghastly people I have snogged while drunk (OK not that many but still too many) I KNOW for a SCIENCE FACT that bouze makes me do things I would not otherwise do. However I keep drinking hoping it will one day make me do a really great thing I would not otherwise do.

Emma, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

like nutella fisting?

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah yes but yr subconscious mind etc etc....ok you are right I am talking nonsense. I'm actually quite envious of people who do do apalling deeds when drunk cos I never have. Apart from on Dooms Night.

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Any volunteers to give Tom a good nutella fisting when he is drunk so he too can know the 'oh my god please tell me I didn't' horror of the morning after.

Emma, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Sorry Tom...)

Emma, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Also of course even if I was up for a bit of casual snogging the beard makes a useful prophylactic.

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

At least I don't advertise a love of golden showers, Emma.

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I was hiding the badge under my belt so was hardly advertising anything!

Emma, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

AHA I haf pre-empted myself by going to Sainsburys and purchasing ingredients and a baking dish with a LID to make Katies potato curry tonight! Ph34r my pyr3x!! No DEMON booze for me tonight then - I need an early night with no hellish beer induced mood swings.

Sarah, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, I'll be there six-ish.

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

six!!!, are you some kind of mentalist?

gareth, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Um this is the usual time to start drinking - no?

Pete, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, Gareth, six. (ish). It is the usual starting time especially if you're planning on getting a bite later on.

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

being out before 8 still seems weird to me

gareth, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I may pop in for one on my way from working for the man.

Ronan, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

b-but I'm not back from Canada yet! I've got four weeks to go Tom.

We must have a drink when I get back (12th july). Not on the day (jetlag will prevent it) but the week after.

Julio Desouza, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well GS was a bit crowded for my liking last Wednesday - I had a serious attack of claustrophobia and had to flee the premises early - but I need some cheering up so will probably come again.

Would be nice if Dr C and Katie G were there :)

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

aww Marcello C, i can't make it cos of a mate's leaving do... and if Dr. C's there it means i'll miss him AGAIN and i'll be missing Ronan again too! bloody hell people do pick their times to pack up and move to TURKEY don't they, grrr! stupid friends. (nah not really)

katie, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I may also pop along for one, as I'm not finishing til 6.30 ish due to footy related late start. however i need to get home to do things with chicken thighs (cooking them, you filthy minded lot) at a reasonable time...

CarsmileSteve, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

AFTERNOON OF EXCEL HELL GUTS SHRIEKING. I have scrapped my gym / moderate bouze plan in favour of a shopping / tons of bouze plan.

Emma, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sadly can't make it tonight *almost certainly*, but might make a late appearance. But probably won't.

**and if Dr. C's there it means i'll miss him AGAIN **

Katie - I think you were at the one before last at the G'house stores and I meant to come over and chat. I was the sad old bastard sitting next to Marcello (no, not sad old Sinker) for much of the evening. i apparently look like Sully from Monsters Inc (according to Sinkah).

Urgent and Key - TOM did I see you on an escalator on the tube on Sunday OR DID I DREAM THIS??? I got fairly pissed at the New Ordah gig and am trying to separate fact n fiction.

Dr. C, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I might have to give it a miss for certain if you lot are going for food later, as I won't make it till late away and you might have gone...

Dr. C, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what dr.c said. since i'm still at flightpath estate and i'd want to get changed and stuff, doesn't look likely

gareth, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd go, but I'm in Boston.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What Dan said. Except I'm not in Boston.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What with coming across this thread at home in East Ham at 7.30, I think it may be a touch late to set off.

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

6 is too early? These foreigners are weird.

Ally C, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hmmm

Lynskey, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey Porl, lets meet up for a pint, we haven't had enough yet.

Drunk Matt, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hey, I'm the one still drinking stella, mate. Get back to Robin's wendy house and sip your blackcurrant soda.

Lynskey, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm on whisky you tit.

Matt, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The jokes on you, I'm not drinking at all. HAHAHAHA!!!!

Lynskey, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well isn't my face red. That'll be the booze.

Matt, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Indeed. The hops, the malts. . . . . jezzus mate we've been at this for HOURS!

Lynskey, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My head hurts. So very much.

Ronan, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

did you have good drinkings then?

katie, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ALL drinkings are good Katie! Yes v. nice thank you but it's a shame there were no girls there as I had just bought some new clothes and the boys were really not interested enough (though Magnus tried, bless him).

Emma, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

In fact I have just remembered that it wasn't good drinkings as the combination of vodka & white wine (separate glasses) gave me a horrible nightmare that everyone was racing out of London as we were about to be hit by a nuclear bomb, only me, Pete & our flatmate couldn't find anyone with a car so we were about to be fried. I was thinking in my dream 'I hope I wake up and this is all a horrible dream' but it went on for some time before I woke up. It was really miserable cos rather than thinking 'I have moments to live, I must rush out & have sex or do something grebt' I was just really depressed and wanted to go to bed.

Emma, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My head hurts - I officially feel dreadful. But it was lovely to meet Ronan last night.

Jonnie, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

B-b-but Johnnie - you weren't there. (And neither was Ronan enough to get plastered. Was there some alternative bouze up that we were not invited to?)

Pete, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We had an indie meeting at the highbury garage minibar.

Ronan, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You wouldn't think Esso was licensed, wouldja?

bah, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Licensed for petrol, num num.

Ronan, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry that others weren't there - I just met up with Ronan and Chris after work and didn't know about the prior meet up.

Jonnie, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

JOHNNY MUST GO!

mark s, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

my hangover has turned me into n.

mark s, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I seem to have got more work done this morning than I have in the last 2 years I've been here so clearly hangovers are good for productivity and the company should pay me more so I can have a more degenerate lifestyle.

Emma, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw Jonnie last night. He was playing Harold in Harold & Maude.

N., Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom, did you buy the Armenian Navy Band CD I recommended?

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes I did! I've not played all of it yet but what I did play on returning last night sounded good. Thanks for the tip Marcello. I bought quite a few things, oh my poor bank balance...

Tom, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw Jonnie last night. He was playing Harold in Harold & Maude.

As I said I met Ronan and Chris after work.

Jonnie, Thursday, 13 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Emma, I was asked "You know this is the Gents, right?" (again), so: the top was very nice but I'd be amazed if you don't already own something very similar. The skirt was also nice, but maybe you should have gone for the white as the turqoise was a bit like the colour ensemble the Queen would wear, but probably turquoise suits you much better than white (because you are royalty), so maybe you were right (and Brenda is looking v. dappa these days).

Both very lovely. Why do ladies' clothes shops give you transparent bags these days? Is it some kind of YOU MUST BUY NICE THINGS hazing ritual of shame?

Graham, Friday, 14 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Graham you are clearly not a girl as a girl would not have slagged off my new clothes in such a way. I didn't buy the white skirt cos it was see through and I don't think the poor folk of London want that inflicted on them. And a girl would NEVER say 'yes very nice but don't you already have one a bit like it?' (well my mum would but she doesn't count), for a girl would understand that while I may well have numerous flimsy see-thru embroidered tops they are all VERY DIFFERENT in ways men do not seem to appreciate.

Emma, Friday, 14 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Those trousers are nice but don't you already have something like it", to me has the obvious reply. "Yes of course I have something like it that is one of the reasons why I bought it, the other is the arse has fallen out of the trousers like it I own".

Pete, Friday, 14 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

clothes clothes lalalalaaa i can't hear you MUST NOT BUY ANY MORE NEW CLOTHES arrgh my credit card is about to explode... though did get a v nice red skirt from OF ALL PLACES wallis yesterday!

katie, Friday, 14 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Whaddya mean, 'of all places', we own Wallis! Though admittedly you are probably not their target customer.

I don't think I have ever bought new clothes cos I have worn out the old ones, probably cos I have so many I never get to wear them enough times to wear them out.

Emma, Friday, 14 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

three years pass...
Rather than start a new Fancy A Pint thread, we are reviving an old one.

Some Shimuras (Kate, Emsk, AMP) will be drinking at the Freemasons Arms on Great Queen Street from about 7pm. Feel free to come and drink with us!

The Late Fear And The Potato Fear (kate), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 16:51 (nineteen years ago)

OK. No Anna?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

Anna is writing a massive f*ckoff article for MixMag. Hence why we are not having rehearsal and drinking instead. (Also, Marianna is Canadia.)

Aren't you supposed to be in Paris (cue BlowUp "I *am* in Paris..." quote)? Or did you not find your passport?

The Late Fear And The Potato Fear (kate), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

This isn't just any FAP thread, it's the FAP thread!

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

I did not find my passport. So have had to postpone NYC, boo. However, now my trip wil coincide with the whitney biennial.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 17:00 (nineteen years ago)

It's not the original! Though I did see the original when I was looking for this one. The original was actually called "Fancy A Pint London?" or something like that.

The Late Fear And The Potato Fear (kate), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

i'm going to gatecrash this now that everyone who's going has left The Internet for the evening and can't pass comment, bwahaha...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:16 (nineteen years ago)

I'm still here. Bwah hah hah.

Actually, AMP will be quite surprised when there turn out to be BOYZ there. I think Leeeeee is coming as well. Hurrah!

The Late Fear And The Potato Fear (kate), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:17 (nineteen years ago)

am i coming to yr work or the pub?

emsk ( emsk), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know. AMP will be late, which is why I'm meeting her here. But if there's other people coming, then they might be at the pub. Either way, I have to go to the cash machine first.

I'm so confuuuuuuused...

The Late Fear And The Potato Fear (kate), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:23 (nineteen years ago)

are any of you girls single?

i might come

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

actually i should go home and finish off work..

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

but booze...

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:28 (nineteen years ago)

AMP will be late, which is why I'm meeting her here

b-but that does not make sense! anyway. i got held up by a cheese and onion pasty but i am leaving in ten minutes.

emsk ( emsk), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

I am meeting AMP here because it means I can continue to work until she gets here, rather than being sat, by myself, in a pub.

The Late Fear And The Potato Fear (kate), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

i just re-read the emails, it all makes sense now. i have not left yet so prob you will all be there before me.

emsk ( emsk), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:48 (nineteen years ago)

Well, it's now 7pm and I've told my bosses that the reports match, but I'm not cleaning them up til tomorrow. So I will go down and see if AMP is here yet.

The Late Fear And The Potato Fear (kate), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 18:58 (nineteen years ago)
