There are a number of methods for eating corn on the cob. Most people are familiar with the typewriter, where the consumer eats along each row and then 'returning' to the beginning once reaching the end of the cob. The lathe method involves nibbling a couple of rows at a time and then rotating the cob to complete a circle. Interestingly, some reports suggest that females are more likely to employ the typewriter over the lathe[4] . However, the most effective method for avoiding corn being stuck in one's teeth is the "across the grain" method, where the cob is held upright and eaten in strips along the length of the cob.
