Because I've been drinking for the first time in over a month and I'm feeling a little bit lightheaded and a lot angry and disappointed but I've eaten too much chocolate to go to sleep and just... bah.

i just noticed i have posted roughly 800 times in reading ILX since it was just I Love Music (2000?). that's less than 100 posts a year! i dont know if that's crazy or not.

fwiw, I post to, first, clear my head (especially when I have writer's block on a brief or motion). Second, I like the music discussions on ILM; they are more meaningful to me than reading reviews (I am better able to focus on the back-and-forth of ILX). Third, and I'm sure this is mostly one-directional (because I think I'm a pretty invisible figure on ILX for the most part), but I like talking to people here. Many of the regulars are smart and very good writers.

Well I've been here about a year and post nearly 1900 times, if that gives any perspective. Half of the posts have been trolling the soccerball threads though, which is very easy to get caught up in doing.

I like the people and I feel I am constantly learning interesting things. Also, I like 1p3 threads with pretty pictures, although never contribute to them.

Cause I spend 9 hours a day staring at a computer screen, and I have a bunch of friends who hang out here.

It's Friday afternoon and I hate my job.

Because I enjoy being ignored.

1 - it is fun
2 - i get bored a lot during the day

I'm on ILX only to ignore Deric W. Haircare. Does he still post here anymore?

I check in, feeling like i'm on the periphery of a party where loads of people know each other really well, and listen to the conversations. It's a nice place to be.

i spend a decent amount of time here but i don't post all that much. the beer & whiskey threads, food threads, ILM a little bit. i don't get the sense that too many posters know me ('cept for the beer & whiskey guys) but there are some pretty cool, smart, and hilarious people here who bring lots of insight to tons of different topics w/o failing to bring the lols

Deric's contributions to the boring fake trivia thread were awesome.

My job give me lots of desk time, and I get bored of hearing students praise my genius.

TBH I gotta pretend I am working. Y'know, type up important emails to clients and shit. If it weren't for the lack of avatars and simple stylesheet, I'd haul my ass over to Fuck My Little Pony

In all seriousness: I write a lot of posts that never get submitted because they don't seem to have much utility outside of my brain. I'm pretty strongly empathizing with whatever's post above. I like reading and I don't feel like I have any real presence here, so I really only post when I feel like I have something even the slightest bit unique to contribute. Or for laffs. Mostly for laffs, probably. And mostly for just my own laffs, I'm sure.

P.S. I am always logged in.

Started w/ a friend showing me ilx and how pretty much any question about or on the periphery of music could be answered with an archive search, then I lurked for a long time, and started to feel weird about knowing all the details of all yr lives, so figured I'd better at least post every once in awhile to even it out a bit.

I mostly lurk because someone told me about it, I'm bored at a desk job, live in a small middle-of-nowhere place without a lot of people in real life to hear talking about weird shit that I run across here, the general worldview seems more in line with mine than the average message board, and so on.

I don't post often because I don't really have much to add to things, miss lots of weird inside jokes and references, and know only one regular poster here in real life so that makes it feel a little strange.

I post because a lot of the people and topics here are far more interesting than what I encounter in my everyday life. I'm assuming it's the same for most people.

I don’t know much about anyone here, am not acquainted with any of you in real life, have tried to glean information from your posts but it's confusing, even after years. To post here for me always feels like stepping into an unknown world

I remember kshighway changing usernames a couple of times and was interested in their posts. always wonder if a newer poster here might be the same person as an older poster

No, it's just words and shit. The only time I've gotten even partially annoyed are at the two or three old timers who rage out and try to get personal (with me or anyone else).

at first, i did it for the money. Keith and Stet offer a really competitive salary, and nice performance-based incentives. but i quickly formed weird attachments to people, beyond the money.
