The warnings come just weeks after an 18-year-old boy from Milngavie, near Glasgow, was found by police running naked along Sauchiehall Street after taking the tablets. He needed psychiatric treatment.
to be fair he is from Milngavie

I remember my first moment when "I feel old" turned into "kids today WTF?!" - it was when I walked into the newsagents down the road from my parents', where I remember shopping as a very small child, and seeing legal highs on sale next to the sweet counter.

do cola cubes count as a legal high?
― unban dictionary (blueski), Monday, 10 August 2009 11:20 (sixteen years ago)
Is this about mephedrone, that somehow-legal new drug that's supposed to be like a cross between E and coke (http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=420910), and which is being sold on dozens of websites (e.g. http://www.4-mmc.com/) as a as a 'plant growth potentiator'?

indeed
― Tracer Hand, Monday, 21 September 2009 16:20 (sixteen years ago)
so what do it do to plants then, eh?

My brother-in-law has partaken. He's 23. We had to deal with the comedown once; unpleasant.

Had some friends over earlier and while searching for tobacco filters I found some 3 year old mephedrone, which we inevitably shared. I'm going to feel awful tomorrow aren't I?

I had assumed everyone had stopped doing once decent MDMA appeared again a few years back, but I was at a techno night the other week and was surprised to hear someone queuing for a cubicle shouting that although they were out of Ketamine, they had some Methadrone.
― Chewshabadoo, Sunday, 13 May 2012 02:43 (thirteen years ago)
MDMA is rubbish compared to mephedrone, as are all other drugs. It took awhile, since they clamped down on it in China, but good stuff coming in from India now (it's pink).

Well, I enjoyed MDMA in my youth, but have no interest in it at all in middle-age. Too draining, too long to properly recover, too much depression-inducing serotonin depletion, too tolerance-producing so it's never as good after the first year - unless you've gone a long time without. So, while it's no doubt still great for the youths, from my old-fart perspective at least, I genuinely find it rubbish compared to mephedrone's combination of E empathy (in a way that's less off-your-head, more down-to-earth), coke stimulation, and alcohol warmth. It's something I can have a little line of and then go and do a pub quiz, but that can also be built up into something powerfully intense if you wish (it's all in the dosage and how you combine the dramatically different effects from snorting or swallowing it). Then, which is so unlike E, after a short comedown & a couple of hours sleep, I feel cheerful and clear-headed by lunch the next day. And most incredibly it doesn't produce any tolerance at all. If anything the reverse; when I very first started I'd do 1-2 grams over a weekend, but these days find half a gram more than sufficient, yet with not the slightest diminishment in effect.
― Campari G&T, Sunday, 13 May 2012 11:20 (thirteen years ago)
Haven't had any for years, but my mate just bought a load for £25 a g. Will probably partake next weekend, sitting round his house listening to tunes as is increasingly my drugged activity of choice these days.

And I definitely prefer MDMA, though plant food has its advantages - less euphoric but more rushy, like the dirty pills of yore.
― I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Sunday, 13 May 2012 13:42 (thirteen years ago)
Yeh, £25 is the going rate now for street meph. On the downside, sometimes what you get is the related substance that until recently could be bought online under the branded name "B2". If it doesn't have that distinctive mephedrone smell but does have lots of unusually long crystal shards, it's probably B2.
Further ways in which mephedrone is superior to MDMA (for me, anyhow): I always used to get anxiety or slight paranoia the day after ecstasy (or any other drug based on the amphetamine molecule), but have never felt even a hint of this after taking mephedrone.
I would feel horribly depressed the day after E, but if anything, mephedrone seems to have a pronounced anti-depressant effect that lasts for about a week after taking it (no doubt having to do with its being chemically related to Wellbutrin)
And best of all - I have no patience these days for enduring a nervy, gut-discomforting, nausea-producing hour+ come-up before a drug kicks in properly. Snort a line of m, and you're feeling really nice and relaxed in 5-10 mins.

I don't get that with MD at all - takes a while to come on, but it just kid of slips in.

It was a long time ago when I last took ecstasy - 1990 or 1991, so maybe it's different now. As I remember it, in addition to the effects I describe above, there was a half hour period that we used to call being 'monged' where it was almost impossible to speak or move, and then finally, like a switch being flicked, suddenly everything would become lovely and joyful, and not only would you regain the power of speech, but you'd become garrulous and effusive, and instead of your limbs feeling like they were lead weights, now you were walking on air. I've heard that pills are a lot less strong these days, so maybe that's why you don't go throught this 'monged' stage anymore?
Anyway, that was all well and good, but after a while I decided the negative effects far outweighed the good - not just with MDMA, but also with crappy sulphate, and blue putty meth (which I loved, but what a horror of a comedown), and acid and whatever, and so I stopped doing drugs for 20 years.
Then about 3 years ago I started taking mephedrone, which if done properly has a euphoria like E and coke combined but without any of the negatives of either, and now I'm still doing it, just once or twice a month, and I love it as much as ever, and looking back, think it a wholly positive thing that has had almost no downsides whatsoever. It's the only drug I've ever taken that I could sincerely recommend as being a positive thing in both the short and long term.

Made with the active agent mephedrone, the synthetic substance often causes users to become highly aggressive and experience intense hallucinations.
