Mars my enjoyment of Have You Been Watching every week.

He's doing it now!

(I'm watching Chan4+1)

Mark G, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 22:17 (sixteen years ago)

It's not even that the 'joke'/s are bad (they are, but that's not it) , it's that that's the worst stand-up delivery I've ever seen!

Mark G, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 22:19 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, it's the face that does it. And you can't tell a joke about smugness when you instantly come across as the smuggest twat who's ever been on TV.

chap, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 22:21 (sixteen years ago)

See, if Charlie Brooer was really hardcore, he'd take the almighty piss out of THAT GUY!!!

Mark G, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 22:50 (sixteen years ago)

Can I take a guess who you're talking about? We don't get Channel 4 over here, but the combination of that and twat and smug spontaneously made me wonder if you meant Jimmy Carr.

StanM, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 22:54 (sixteen years ago)

Haha, actually it's just some guy on the current C4 comedy sponser idents. Probably not worth getting worked up about, but he really is supernaturally irritating, way more so than Carr.

chap, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 22:57 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, ok! :-)

StanM, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 23:03 (sixteen years ago)

is this the "t-mobile sponsors new comedy" dick with the "now i've got internet on my phone people think i have a huge intellect - and a tiny bladder" spiel? I genuinely cannot parse those ads, I keep thinking: is it meant to be an ironic comment on terrible observational comedy? or is this meant to actually be funny?

Don't worry, bing and its "decision engine"is here to save us from all this search engine smugness.

Mornington Crescent (Ed), Wednesday, 12 August 2009 00:29 (sixteen years ago)

a small part of me thought this was supposed to be completely awful and unfunny and that that, somehow, in itself was supposed to be funny. i mean i know that makes little enough sense but it was the only way i could justify it. i'm assured, however, that i'm wrong and they're just as bad as i think they are... and i think they're amongst the very worst things i have ever seen.

T-Mobile is affiliated with this, right? Can we just fucking sanction an airstrike on their headquarters now?

cockles (country matters), Wednesday, 12 August 2009 01:08 (sixteen years ago)

Want to see this cunt's entrails pulled out by a horse.

Sickamous (Scik Mouthy), Wednesday, 12 August 2009 05:10 (sixteen years ago)

i think it's 3 mobile not T-Mobile.

jed_, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 08:53 (sixteen years ago)

There's at least one where he does this weird mournful yet sinister face to camera after he's gone on mugging a bit too long which gives me the creeps.

Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 09:10 (sixteen years ago)

This morning, I feel sorry for the dude. They are basically very badly made, right?

"Here's a bunch of money to do idents for the sponsor of the Charlie Brooker show!"
"Oh great! And I get known!"

Heck, even those two 'brothers' on the Big Brother idents might actually get more work afterwards.

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 09:12 (sixteen years ago)

a small part of me thought this was supposed to be completely awful and unfunny and that that, somehow, in itself was supposed to be funny.

That's what I thought at first too. Like an alt-comedy version of Gilbert Gottfried's "I got into a car yesterday and it talked to me! What's THAT all about? I love ya New York!"

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 11:58 (sixteen years ago)

these idents, like the big brother ones are supposed to be annoying and slightly confusing so viewers talk about them and spread teh memes. they're not actually supposed to be funny or mean anything. it works!
