Gore Verbinski drops out, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intacto, 28 Weeks Later) steps up.

I'm currently playing Bioshock on the XBox and loving it. I'm just wondering if it can transfer succesfully. There's a real danger it could end up like Silent Hill - big on 'atmosphere' but completely empty.

the idea behind the game is great and would make a good movie if done right but there's no way this will be any good

Randroids seemed to think the game championed their fantasy reality, right? But didn't it pretty much say that Objectivism would turn you into a society of evil mutants?

I could see how harvesting little sisters would be fun to watch on the silver screen. But I guess the plot of Bioshock, errr the story behind the shooting, really is cleaver... I mean it had me intrigued the whole time I played the game. The atmosphere of Bioshock was brilliant.

I think the game's story said that bio-improvements (like steroids but more powerful) will turn you into a society of mutants. Once again I rather not argue the logistics of such a plot but hope that with the talents of the guy from 28 Weeks Later we will get a spiffy movie to be entertained by. Sometimes entertainment is all you need in a movie. Artistic coolness is a plus. Take horror movies for example. Some of those plots, logistics, characterization is downright stupid... but I can still claim to be watching a really entertaining movie.

some of what I said here lends to my post on the District 9 thread.

yeah actually though it could be a mistake.

bioshock is great at being "cinematic" because it largely avoids the conventional cutscene-and-writing approach...it creates a world that's very evocative but there's definitely less-than-meets-the-eye..

amazing game though, just brilliant...that's the interesting thing, how to actually make things work as *a game* and not a cod hollywood thing.
