true story: for either my seventh or eighth birthday, my birthday cake was a Tastykake chocolate cupcake with a single candle in it

I didn't complain. it was delicious!

tony dayo (dyao), Sunday, 30 August 2009 13:42 (sixteen years ago)

I realize I left apple pie out of the list. but are you really going to vote for apple pie over butterscotch krimpets?

tony dayo (dyao), Sunday, 30 August 2009 13:43 (sixteen years ago)

ALL ARE WINNERS, especially if you are a drunk Australian staggering around Wawa at 3am realising that you are indeed a) very drunk and b) in the home of life-shortening food and you want something for "dessert".

An American expat and myself are planning to get a box of Tastykakes shipped over. I hope this happens and work out. Otherwise, I will fly over to Philly and get them myself!!

i don't get the love for these, they're either bland or too sugary by half. voting other, i guess.

butterscotch krimpets CLASSIC CLASSIC CLASSIC

if anything other than butterscotch krimpets wins then the terrorists (local to the tri-state area) have won.

though i remember being partial to the lemon pie as well.

Butterscotch! Krimpets!

Every time I go visit my family, I bring a box back of BsKs back to Chicago with me, mostly because I'm afraid TSA will mistake a block of scrapple for a brick of C4. Tastykakes are a safer palliative for homesickness.

Also between this poll and the revival of the Wawa thread I'm getting all nostalgic for my homeland.

Buttercotch Krimpets, put in the freezer and eaten cold on a hot summer day = most classic ever. my mother sends me a box every year for my birthday.

I voted the butterscotch because...well, they're the best.

The jellies, however, are their own special brand of amazing.

I gotta get somebody to send me some.

PB kandy kake guy myself (haven't had any in years)

Julie & Julius Rosenberg (donna rouge), Sunday, 30 August 2009 18:18 (sixteen years ago)

and yeah, cold/frozen is the way to go with all these products i bet

Julie & Julius Rosenberg (donna rouge), Sunday, 30 August 2009 18:18 (sixteen years ago)

i do not understand the frozen thing at all, tbh.

though i can see the appeal re. pb kandy kake.

strongohulkingtonsghost, Sunday, 30 August 2009 18:20 (sixteen years ago)

krimpet too spongey to freeze properly i'd guess.

strongohulkingtonsghost, Sunday, 30 August 2009 18:20 (sixteen years ago)

cream filled buttercream cupcake sounds obscene

tony dayo (dyao), Sunday, 30 August 2009 23:51 (sixteen years ago)

though it has given me an idea for a culinary product that will take over america...sticks of butter with pockets of buttercream inside

tony dayo (dyao), Sunday, 30 August 2009 23:51 (sixteen years ago)

pbkk's will win, but chocolate cupcakes to me are the undisputed king.

i was at a conference in philly two years ago and at the banquet they had a table of tastykakes. it was like walking into a warehouse full of heroin. i'm not sure which would kill me faster tbh.

PB Kandy Kakes or Butterscotch Crimpets for me. My great-uncle Rudy in Atlantic City used to send us a variety case of these every year. BLISS.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 6 September 2009 06:34 (sixteen years ago)

butterscotch krimpets for real ... jelly krimpets always looked too much like a used tampon.
