I confess. I only asked the question because it burns with such a pure light of inescapable racism. My using "white man" obviously rendered the question hopelessly, scorchingly toxic. You can't even touch it without being burned to a crisp.

To my thinking, the only genuinely reasonable option I gave was "I abstain." Although "call me a rascist" is certainly also acceptable.

It just peeves me no end that we are stuck with this shitty legacy of 19th century racial categories and terms and we can't seem to escape them, like they are some gravitational singularity from which no light can escape. I would love to beat these terms to death with a stick.

What is pretty evident is that Jesus looked like a white dude to evagelized white dudes, specifically Greek to the Greeks and more Germanic (including his kingly long locks) to most of Western Europe later on, looked like an Arab to evangelized Arabs, probably wasn't described in great detail to evangelized Native Americans, looked African to Ethiopians, etc... The Church has long co-opted local culture and appealed to pre-existing prejudices and aesthetics in their efforts to convert. That's why the English call it Easter, etc...

What languages use the name Jesus for their children, anyway? Technically Jesse is a form of Jesus, an anglicized form to differentiate it from the Latin, but apart from Spanish speaking people I can't think of a lot of countries where the name is used.
