ILX vs Sinister - the mandatory defence

The Sinister boys have been pestering me about the rematch, so how about it? Where and when? Who's up for it? I suggest Saturday 13th July - any thoughts?

I personally don't see we need goalposts, but maybe a slightly better pitch might be good. Regents Park?

Mark C, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We'd pencilled the 13th in for Trig Brother II - maybe the two could be combined into a festival of ILE-ness.

Tom, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Play, I will.

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jeder man sein [something] fußball

mark s, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Does that make sense Tom? I've never attended a trig brother, so I'm not sure what it entails. But if getting people together is as much of a problem as it usually is, it seems a neat solution.

Mark C, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah - a pre-lunch match, then lunch then the pub crawl - we'd need a crawl worked out nearish wherever we're playing but that wouldn't be a problem I don't think.

Tom, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sinister have always been a bit easy oasy.

I fancy young Fitzgerald for ILE, he's a bit of an amusement arcade but still.

That means I want to play.

Big Ron (an), Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

At lunchtime, excellent! It will be my first weekend back in the uk. I'm in if that ok.

Julio Desouza, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Sinister boys have been pestering me about the rematch

I thought they won handily last time.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah they did Tracer, Sinister are a bunch of secret jocks who just wanna act like bullies and rub it in again. Win, draw or lose. ILX wins :)

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll play (again).

Dr. C, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I will cheerlead in my own indomitable style again! (FETCH THE RHUM!!!)

pom poms for jumpers!, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How unpleasant will TB2 be if it's being played by a load of sweaty monsters? Ew.

Tim, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Wanstead Flats is great. But I'm sure it's not very central being in Forest Gate and I may not even be living there anymore by the date proposed.

Ronan, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It'll be minestrone a-go-go. Ick. The only part of this disastrous day that sounds at all appealing is lunch & bouze. You can stick all the game playing part up your bollocks.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am going to buy a proper cheerleading outfit!!! I will be a fat gurl in a cheerleading outfit (hello future wierd pr0n googlers) like Carmen from Popular!!! Where can one buy cheerleading outfits? Emma do you want to be a cheerleader too???

Sarah, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Yes that was aimed at Tim apart from the 'you' which was a collective ILE you and therefore collective ILE bollocks.)

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pausing to drink tea means I keep getting caught in a cross posting hell. Anyway Sarah the one thing worse than watching proper football is watching a bunch of your wheezing puffing wobbling mates (no offense, I mean I would wheeze puff & wobble too which is why I choose not to do it) staggering around after a ball then coming off and spending the afternoon saying 'did you see me score / get fouled / fall over / whatever'. And the one thing worse than that is doing it whilst leaping around waving pompoms. Blimey.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah won't be waving her pom poms however Emma because they will be serving as her jumper. It might make the game a bit more exciting if the boys on the field followed her example and wore pom poms over their bits instead of a kit.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So, ILX team roll call thus far :

Me, Ron(an), Tim, Jel, Julio and I assume Chris and Jonnie. Anyone else?

Who else played last time? Alan? Nick (king of the foul throws) Dastoor?

Dr. C, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm convinced i did more harm than good last time. so i'll do ILE a favour and sit this one out. also i am lazy, though i am much fitter now than i was then.

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I won't be there so you can all safely ignore me (that's taken care of, then) but I think no women playing is, how-you-say, a BIT RUB.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tracer us girls are far too sensible to spend our Saturday morning running around after a ball.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I need to get into training. The Carlton Palmer role will be mine.

Ronan, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hang on, Emma - I think the penny's dropped. I SEE WHAT YOU'RE HINTING AT!! You DON'T LIKE FOOTBALL!!

Dr. C, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

As am I.

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

[I mean far too sensible ect]

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Yes sorry for clogging up the footie thread with my hata ways but I was just talking to Sarah & Tim really & commenting on the Trig Bruv thing. I will go back to my silent loathing now if you like.)

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If you want sensibility go and watch clowns.

Alan Ball, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ILX play total football, so there won't actually be any running around, we will let the ball do all the moving.

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I will have nightmares about "minestrone-a-go-go" for WEEKS.

Dan Perry, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I was pretty good at football years ago (school team good, not professional trials good), but that was in the '70s! I am old and unfit, but am likely to turn up and may be willing to trundle around on the pitch if ILE is desperately short of players.

Martin Skidmore, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My hand is raised yes, I would assume Jonnie's is too. Also G should be available for goalkeeping duties. Nick will be up in the frozen north by then I think *sniff*.

chris, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris, you're smelling your pits already? Oh, I fear for you all.

Dan Perry, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

two weeks pass...
Is this still going ahead?

The Ghastly Fop, Saturday, 6 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I dunno. Do we have a team? Is it still coinciding with trig brother 2? I've been in training, eating lots of cake and taking it easy.
