PARKOUR PARKOUR

Mordy, Friday, 18 September 2009 01:03 (fifteen years ago)

(I actually still love it, btw)

Johnny Fever, Friday, 18 September 2009 01:03 (fifteen years ago)

Me too :)

Mordy, Friday, 18 September 2009 01:03 (fifteen years ago)

Wow, this is the most "acting" Stanley's done in the show's whole run.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 18 September 2009 01:09 (fifteen years ago)

Another man inside of Kevin working him with controls!! I lol'd.

Mordy, Friday, 18 September 2009 01:19 (fifteen years ago)

Who's been saying that there's another person inside of me?

That new Jason Schwartzman HBO show looks amazing!

Mordy, Friday, 18 September 2009 01:21 (fifteen years ago)

Shut up. I don't have hbo.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 18 September 2009 01:28 (fifteen years ago)

Andy's gay dilemma was probably the best part of this.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 18 September 2009 01:28 (fifteen years ago)

Jet Li, Julia Stiles, Alan Thicke.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 18 September 2009 01:30 (fifteen years ago)

I don't have HBO either. :/

parks and recreation was better, for once.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 18 September 2009 02:50 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, tonight's shows

It's Always Sunny > Parks & Recreation > The Office > Community (but I liked them all, actually)

Johnny Fever, Friday, 18 September 2009 02:54 (fifteen years ago)

PARKOUR was greattttt

I knew almost exactly where the was going as soon as Oscar walked in the office, yet it was still hilarious.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 25 September 2009 01:01 (fifteen years ago)

"Hey Andy, let's go visit grandma and then get drunk together.. ha ha!"

Johnny Fever, Friday, 25 September 2009 01:08 (fifteen years ago)

That was absolutely one of the worst Office episodes ever. Just AWFUL.

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 25 September 2009 02:02 (fifteen years ago)

Didn't see that post coming. No way.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 25 September 2009 02:02 (fifteen years ago)

xxp that was a great underplayed line

cheese cart thing was awful but mercifully short, the rest of was boilerplate (amusing enough) Office stuff. also typical: using an entire episode just to set up this whole Jim co-manager situation

Nhex, Friday, 25 September 2009 02:40 (fifteen years ago)

this episode should've ended with creed bratton bashing jim and pam to death with michael's cheese cart

iiiijjjj, Friday, 25 September 2009 02:45 (fifteen years ago)

WTF. Our DVR just up and decided not to record this tonight, so not happy. Recorded Parks and Rec and Community, but not The Office. I don't get it.

Size-zero-brigade-embrace-token-chubby-chops (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 25 September 2009 02:46 (fifteen years ago)

When does this go up on NBC???? Anywhere else I can watch this???

Size-zero-brigade-embrace-token-chubby-chops (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 25 September 2009 02:54 (fifteen years ago)

Ugh seriously? I have to wait 24 hours for this to show up on NBC.com or Hulu? Come on internet, you are failing me here.

Size-zero-brigade-embrace-token-chubby-chops (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 25 September 2009 03:01 (fifteen years ago)

doesn't it go up on hulu in the AM?

"I get through more mojitos.." (bear, bear, bear), Friday, 25 September 2009 03:24 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe, I thought it was 24 hours. Either way, doesn't matter, I won't be able to watch it until after I sit through 8 hours at work with people quoting the punchlines all day and completely ruining my enjoyment of the episode.

Anyway, this was high quality Office, assuming you are not a geek who wants Booze Cruise and Casino Night every episode.

Three Word Username, Friday, 25 September 2009 07:52 (fifteen years ago)

really??? I am someone who enjoys almost every episode and I thought this was not great

iatee, Friday, 25 September 2009 07:54 (fifteen years ago)

There was nothing as good as PARKOUR PARKOUR this episode

Mordy, Friday, 25 September 2009 08:01 (fifteen years ago)

otm

iatee, Friday, 25 September 2009 08:01 (fifteen years ago)

I didn't hate it over all, but my favorite parts were the opening bit with Oscar and the Dwight/Toby/Darryl subplot.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 25 September 2009 08:16 (fifteen years ago)

I thought it was fine. I don't really watch The Office as anything more than an enjoyable sitcom, though, these days. I don't expect it to be the apex of greatness, so I'm occasionally pleasantly surprised.

I HEART CREEPY MENS (Deric W. Haircare), Friday, 25 September 2009 12:49 (fifteen years ago)

the Pam/Angela bit at the end was tops.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Saturday, 26 September 2009 17:10 (fifteen years ago)

It drives me crazy that Michael's being so bitchy about this, because he brought it all upon himself and he 100% knows it.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 2 October 2009 01:10 (fifteen years ago)

wtf is jim's hair

Michael's "I have so much work to do, I feel like I’m gonna blow my brains out." line o corporate guy from the second ep was pretty great

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 2 October 2009 02:47 (fifteen years ago)

Pam and Ryan at the end = my favorite scene so far this season.

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 2 October 2009 02:48 (fifteen years ago)

i liked how it was dragged out just enough to make her sudden caving in more of a laugh

Nhex, Friday, 2 October 2009 02:51 (fifteen years ago)

I'm trying to wrap my head around the new physical layout of the office since they bumped the accountants somewhere else to accommodate Jim's new office. I'm weird like that. I was at least hoping for a meta joke of "hey, where'd that come from" or something. But in all honesty, I think the ramp is being set up for the shark jumping on this show. The co-manager thing just sets up all sorts of things that won't end up cleanly and the wistful nostalgia commercials for the "very special" wedding episode are bad bad signs in my book.

& other try hard shitfests (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 2 October 2009 03:17 (fifteen years ago)

Extended shark metaphors used in reference to television shows are a sign of profound idiocy.

Three Word Username, Friday, 2 October 2009 05:11 (fifteen years ago)

The notion that promos for future episodes are indicators of creative direction seems flawed to me. I kind of doubt the people behind the show have any role in making those promos.

Super Cub, Friday, 2 October 2009 07:47 (fifteen years ago)

is this season 6 or 7? I liked 5 better than 6, and this is somewhere between those for me. I've really wanted to like this season, and certain episodes have been close to great with just a few really wrong notes that spoiled them.

rockapads, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 00:51 (fourteen years ago)

its great that they took the focus off jim and pam, and gave more time to darryl/andy/erin/kelly, but character consistency has gone down the tubes. feels kind of like a sketch show now.

max, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 00:55 (fourteen years ago)

well said. my thoughts exactly

rockapads, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 01:15 (fourteen years ago)

I liked s5 if only bcz of Holly & the Michael Scott Paper Co. But then again I'm the kind of guy who finds Dwight's fire drill & Jim in a tux as the height of hilarity. That said, s7 has good moments and maybe taken as a whole, on DVD, it will make more sense, but it's def. a diff't show now, more weird than funny usually, and if you already thought the show was on a downward slope, then this season won't change your mind...

I kinda feel like I would rank them:

i still say season one was pretty damn good despite the rip-off pilot.

Punish Them! The House of Fortune is the Monster Mansion! (reddening), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 04:15 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I realized my rankings kind of sell that season short, it got better as it went along but it was so short.

1>2>3>4>5+6

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 04:56 (fourteen years ago)

I liked s5 if only bcz of Holly & the Michael Scott Paper Co.

Holly was fire (as was Stringer) and Michael Scott Paper Co was an awesome setup, but they hit the reset button an episode or two later, instead of letting it play out and create some interesting change or conflict

The Marquis de Sade Adu (sic), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 04:57 (fourteen years ago)

Idris Elba was the worst of all the scrappy doos they've tried imo.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 05:11 (fourteen years ago)

Elba's deflation was ultimately worth it tho.

there's been some great stuff in this season. the last two, PDA + Threat Level Midnight, and the Xmas episode stand out for me.

1st season's underrated for sure.

circa1916, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 06:55 (fourteen years ago)

PDA was a remarkably good episode, as good as anything they've done on the show since S4.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 20:18 (fourteen years ago)

that last ep was kinda weird

the pam/andy thing was like this bizarre throwback to... actual almost plausible office-type shit

did beadie do an ott boston accent in 'gone baby gone'?

this odyssey that refuses to quit calling itself (history mayne), Thursday, 3 March 2011 10:46 (fourteen years ago)

haha, yes she did. i had to wonder if that was a tongue-in-cheek reference to it

finally caught up with this year's episodes, and what i can say, i am generally enjoying the Michael Scott farewell tour. Threat Level Midnight was good stuff. Part of that is just having more a sense of something happening than the last year of boring stuff like the Erin/Andy thing. Also I love Holly FOREVER, and the pairing with Michael is just amazingly right imo

Nhex, Saturday, 12 March 2011 03:58 (fourteen years ago)

That was 10x the episode that Jim/Pam wedding episode was.

http://www.deadline.com/2011/06/james-spader-picking-out-an-office-chair/#more-143147

James Spader is working on a deal to return to NBC's The Office this season -- but he might have loftier ambitions than Michael Scott's desk. According to Entertainment Weekly, Spader is in talks to return as Robert California, who appeared last season interviewing for Scott's office-manager job (thanks to Steve Carell's pending departure from the series). But the twist is that Robert might actually be in the running for Dunder Mifflin CEO, currently played by Kathy Bates, whose Harry's Law was renewed for next season.

Thought their might be a creative rebirth with the supporting characters free to take center stage, but it wasn't very funny or engaging. Spader is good.

Ok last night's show was awesome. Loved Stanley in this, and Creed's writing 12 plays. I think this show is still quality and these actors still have a chemistry together. As long as it's funny who cares about bad plotting?

The Tallahassee "Stop looking at my breasts and start looking at my penis" lady was LOL and had some great absurdist lines. She went and bought 13 pianos?

Catherine Tate went hard in this.

six years pass...

Was rereading this thread as I watched season six —or was trying to— and man the constant complaining about how “the show sucks now” basically makes it unreadable. Spoiler: the show did not suck

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 29 June 2018 07:55 (seven years ago)

yeah, I might say exactly the same upthread, but: while the Mike Schur years are way above the rest, and the Lieberstein years take a variety of major and lesser missteps, this stayed a good and funny sitcom until the end. the biggest mistake was not working to divest from Michael Scott early, instead of making a massive deal about how important Carell was - it could have rolled on stronger by leaning on the ensemble and letting more characters have A-plots. changing up the cast more organically than parachuting various stars (and later, nobodies) into a status quo they were otherwise desperately trying to hold wld have helped this too.

kelp, clam and carrion (sic), Friday, 29 June 2018 09:32 (seven years ago)

if you rewatch this show, for the first half of the series Michael Scott basically was a love-able Donald Trump: a racist sexist idiotic failson who's right hand man Dwight even has a Nazi connection

Hazy Maze Cave (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 29 June 2018 12:13 (seven years ago)

Weirdly, my older daughter (now 13) and all her friends are suddenly into this show. I watched a few later episodes with her - I want to say I originally stopped even before Carell left - and oof, they were exhausting and unfunny. To me, at least.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 29 June 2018 12:30 (seven years ago)

Share your mystification, Josh. Actually just got home and my 15 year old daughter was rewatching an episode. She and her friends were obsessed with the show a couple years ago, to the point of buying each other Office merch for birthday presents. Not sure what the appeal of a workplace comedy is for young teens (girls in particular?), but all good because I enjoy watching it with her (and she's gone on to become a full-on film junkie who's willing to watch slow art films with her dad).

by the light of the burning Citroën, Friday, 29 June 2018 17:07 (seven years ago)

she's gone on to become a full-on film junkie who's willing to watch slow art films with her dad)

Man, fingers crossed, because this is exactly what I've been complaining about not happening for months.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 29 June 2018 18:06 (seven years ago)

i think its hilarious you guys are confused by why young teenagers might like what is essentially a romantic comedy for the first three seasons

there's the occasional unfunny ep throughout--and season 4?? i think? whenever its immediately after pam & jim finally get together--has a drop-off before they regain footing ... but mostly i think its good til michael leaves, and maybe a couple episodes after

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Saturday, 30 June 2018 08:14 (seven years ago)

one year passes...

So in 2019, Jim and Pam are divorced and Jim's totally a Trump dude, right?
