it's a funny show but i dunno it feels kind of unsustainable, like they feel the need to keep upping the ante on Sheldon antics until eventually it'll just get unbearably stupid. already does, sometimes.

Penny gets some of the best lines in the show pretty consistently imo -- at the beginning i thought she was gonna be the weak link in the cast based on, i dunno, 8 Simple Rules, but some weeks she's funnier than the guys.

I finally started watching this last week, and I'm 100% a fan already. The Wil Wheaton episode reeled me in...I'd always given it a wide berth because the commercials left me with the impression of a bad 80's movie.
But there's so much to love!!!
- Leonard/Johnny Galecki. I was a huge Roseanne fan, so Sara Gilbert! Laurie Metcalf! Just makes me giddy with nostalgia. - Sheldon. Huge nerd crush already. I mean his character seems like someone said, hey lets' make high functioning Asperger's hilarious. But it so works. I love it.- Howard. Moist from Dr Horrible! Love! I just keep waiting for him to ask if Leonard needs something moistened or made damp.
Sure the show's a bit of a one trick pony but the nerd humor is SO right on. I love it. I could care less about Penny and her midriff shirts but damn the show is mighty watchable and I will probably finish Season 1 tonight.

i totally didn't know that amy farrah fowler was blossom for the longest time! just hadn't seen blossom in so long. and i certainly didn't know that blossom is actually a neuroscientist in real life!
"At the end of Blossom, she chose to attend UCLA, despite having been accepted at both Harvard and Yale.[9][10] She stated that she wanted to stay close to her parents and did not want to move to the East Coast. She earned a bachelor's degree in 2000 in neuroscience, Hebrew, and Jewish studies, and went on to the PhD program in neuroscience. A 2002 interview stated that Bialik is now involved in Conservadox Judaism.[2] She continues to study Judaism with the help of her Partners in Torah partner, Allison Josephs.[11]
She took a break from studies in 2005 to return to acting.[12] Bialik completed her PhD in 2008, but is not pursuing an academic career in the near future;[13] her dissertation was an investigation of Prader-Willi syndrome.[14][15]
She married Michael Stone on August 31, 2003, in a Victorian-themed ceremony with traditional Jewish customs.[16] They have two sons together; Miles Roosevelt Bialik Stone was born on October 10, 2005, and Frederick Heschel Bialik Stone was born on August 15, 2008.[17] She is a celebrity spokesperson for the Holistic Moms Network.[18]
Hayim Nahman Bialik, Israel's national poet, was Mayim Bialik's great-great-grandfather's uncle.[7]
She was featured in TLC's What Not to Wear in the Season 7 opening episode which aired May 29, 2009; she was not nominated, Stacey and Clinton stated they took it upon themselves to intervene. The actress Rachael Harris also appears in the episode, as one of Mayim's friends at the reveal party at the end of each show.
She is vegan.[19] She also has a very low Erdős–Bacon number of 7."
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 March 2011 19:31 (fourteen years ago)
and i did already know about danica, who also guested on BBT:
"Danica McKellar, who has appeared on such shows as “The Wonder Years,” “The West Wing,” “NYPD Blue” and “Young Justice,” graduated summa cum laude in mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she helped devise a mathematical proof for certain properties of magnetic fields — a theorem that bears her name along with those of her collaborators. She also writes popular books about math with clever PG-13 titles like “Math Doesn’t Suck” and “Kiss My Math.”

Only started paying attention recently and I am LOVING this program! (Only sitcom-w/laugh track I've loved since "Newsradio".) Such a joy to belatedly discover these shows via syndication, so you can see 'em everyday instead of once-per-week.

I'm still loving this. Howard's creepiness has been pretty toned down in the last season I think. True that Bialik really make's it worth watching but I laughed out loud more at last night's episode than 30 Rock (which tbf was probably not one of the best).
― Ned Trifle X, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:02 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, I still love this as well. It dipped a bit in the first half of Season 4, but the upgrading of Amy & Bernadette to full cast members during the second half refreshed the formant, and Season 5 has consistently brought the LOLs in our household. It reminds me of 3rd Rock From The Sun, in that a lot of its strength comes from the ensemble playing. You sense that the cast members are genuinely having fun with each other (particularly Kaley Cuoco/Penny, who often seems on the point of corpsing, just like Kristen Johnson/Sally in 3rd Rock), and that adds a lot of warmth.

Fun with Flags was great but I really loved the oblivious bug report. Raj seems to be falling WAAAAAY down the wormhole, though (in fairness, I am finding it hilarious, esp. the other characters' reactions to him).

At this stage, the show for me is all about the interaction between Sheldon and Amy, and the whole Leonard and Penny thing has become the least interesting part of the show. When Amy first appeared, she was quite robotic and Sheldon-like, but over time has become a more warmer, human character, and as a result has been gradually teasing this out of Sheldon, too. I generally think it has - on the whole - become a better show that it started out as, although I still sometimes feel that some of the Raj-centric gags can be a bit distasteful.
