But what I'm saying is that you don't ever pronounce "hoos" as a discrete syllable in "hoosteen." Or at least I don't: I say it "hoo-steen." Which makes neither "hooze" nor "hooce" ideal; to be honest, I think I imagine the "s" as being vocalized only slightly.
