I'm looking for a voice recorder to record a couple of speeches and lectures next weekend (Marilynne Robinson!). The only features I need are for it to be able to pick somebody who's about 15 feet away and have USB.

if you are looking for a cheaper option, take a look at either the zoom h2 or h4

From 15 feet away I'd recommend an external plug-in mic unless they're properly amplified and you can make sure you wont pick up ambient noise of people closer. But Olympus make several USB dictaphones and I've used them for work with great success.
