Groovy in a heartbeat.

...and the wizard blew his horn (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:42 (fifteen years ago)

in the absence of "capital" it really does have to be cleavage.

Lovely and tender, like velvet. (Upt0eleven), Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:44 (fifteen years ago)

Capital! is on Part 1

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:45 (fifteen years ago)

Too many of these are too geezerish for proper uptight brits. Copacetic definitely deserves wider recognition.

this must be what FAIL is really like (ledge), Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:47 (fifteen years ago)

really fond of 'get in' for some reason

Hammock!

Dead hammock!

Squash weather (Eazy), Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:50 (fifteen years ago)

I was unsure whether to include 'get in', as it's not strictly an adjective - you wouldn't say "That film was really get in!"

chap, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:51 (fifteen years ago)

Great polls. Bravo!

krakow, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:51 (fifteen years ago)

Ya dancer isn't an adjective either.

ailsa, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:52 (fifteen years ago)

Ach, "Bravo!" isn't in there! How could we have missed it?

krakow, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:52 (fifteen years ago)

think it's because i can imagine a stiff uptight brit allowing himself a small, private moment of victorious recklessness, a discreet fist pump and barely audible exclamation of approval, before once again lumbering his countenance with the weight of responsibility appropriate for a loyal subject of queen and country

ogmor, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 15:53 (fifteen years ago)

Sparked by the bravo controversy:

We're going to need the "Forgotten Interjections: Extreme Approval for uptight Brits (Part 3)" poll.

Okay, any further suggestions can go on the original thread, and I will do part three in a couple of days.

I think 'get in' works well as an adjective indicating really rather overwhelming approval, so long as one leaves a short pause before it, and changes one's tone appropriately.. "I say, old chum, that film was really awfully ... get in"

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 October 2009 16:03 (fifteen years ago)

"Really rather get in-ish"

Gunther von Hagen Daas (NickB), Wednesday, 7 October 2009 16:09 (fifteen years ago)

ugh pure 'out of the mouths of posh cunts' richard curtis dialogue imo

Brewer's Bitch (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 October 2009 18:23 (fifteen years ago)

that could be just the way it's sounding in my head right now, admittedly

Brewer's Bitch (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 October 2009 18:24 (fifteen years ago)

OK to clarify, "get in!' is a response to good news. It is pronounced "gyyyyyett in'. See exchange below:

Brit A: "Half of the starting Chelsea side were injured in a rickshaw crash in Patpong."
Brit B: "Chelsea are shite. Get in!"

Or:

Brit A: "I thought you might be hung over so I made you this delicious bacon sandwich."
Brit B: "Cheers! Get in!"
