Tattoos, classic or dud? They might look cool now. But when you're seventy that dragon tattoo on yer bum won't be so cool anymore.

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Classic. I have 5, so they better look good at 70.

Sean, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I could be nick and point out that we already talked about this ;)

But I won't because it's one of my favorite topics! Classic. Who cares about turning 70? A) Several of us, at least, won't make it. B) By the time we're all 70, the technology will be so good that lazer removal will be cheap, relatively painless, and possibly scar free. Don't worry about it, do what you want, you only live once.

Ally, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

dud

Mike Hanle y, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have no tatoos or piercings, they wouldn't suit me. Tattoos look good if they're good tattoos. Pretty simple really.

DG, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sean, maybe you can ask for a refund if they start to fade? ;-) Personally I think those teeny weeny butterflies and rabbits (on women) look completely DUD. Or what about letters on fingers spelling LOVE and HATE? Major DUD.

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If I ever become a rock star, I'm going to get "CUNT" tattooed across my forehead, preferably the day before the big video shoot so that it's still sore and oozy.

Dan Perry, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

letters on fingers spelling LOVE and HATE are the only thing tattoos are good for.

dud: asian characters. oops, the fad ended in 1997, but you have INK in your SKIN forever.

ethan, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I want a tattoo

anthony, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Seeing as my hands and face get dirty just like *that*, in any known human situation, I shall have faux grime tattooed generally, on visible surfaces. Then no one will be able to tell.

mark s, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The person who's got tattoos sorted is Mike Tyson. If I ever have the arms to warrant it, I'll get as a tribute to him Tyson's head on one arm and Ali's on the other. Good and evil. Only thing is, the Tyson head would actually be a head and shoulders so that you could see his tats on his arms. That'd be the second best.

Greg, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you want ally's head on your arm - weird shit dude.

Geoff, Saturday, 4 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dud, except for the "LOVE" "HATE" on the knuckles. That's wicked bad. Tats are just as dud as septum percings.

JM, Saturday, 4 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

kid, I got HATE on both fucken knuckles. 'cause i'm badder than michael j. & kim fowley glued together with badness!

duane, Saturday, 4 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But Dan if you got that done, they'd pixelate your head, in order to make it showable on MTV! :)

No tattoos for me! Never will! But if I was forced to get one, I'd get one that said "ouch".

jel, Saturday, 4 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you want ally's head on your arm - weird shit dude.

Everyone should have that done.

I'm getting a new one as soon as I stop being broke. Maybe this is why I'm broke.

Ally, Sunday, 5 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes... I do hear new heads are quite expensive these days...

Sterling Clover, Sunday, 5 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

five months pass...
I just got another one tonight. None of the rest of you did. I just thought I'd share.

Ally, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

question is did ally get head tonight or just another tat.

goeff, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dud: Anything that's supposed to be a "sexy" tattoo, i.e. along the lower back or on the stomach.

Mandee, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i have a kitty on my lower back. it's not meant to be sexy. just a kitty.

Samantha, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, but what about your tattoos? (HAW HAW HAW... ha... oh, never mind)

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't believe I used to think Dan Perry older and more mature than me...

Nicole, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Shocking, isn't it?

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think just cos something is on your stomach or back that you're trying to be sexy with it. It's just a spot to put it.

Ally, Wednesday, 6 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nine months pass...
I have another one. I am the circus freak.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 November 2002 22:19 (twenty-two years ago)

the tattoo of ally's ass on my face has come in handy

Queen G (Queeng), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 00:42 (twenty-two years ago)

yay ally! i have one, a biggie on my hip to distract me from a long scar there that i got when i was 7 and it just grew with my body instead of fading. i like tattoos if they are done well.

donna (donna), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

they've lost their sexiness a bit now havent they? especially as its such a passe thing to have done..i just see more and more people with tattoos and the most interesting thing about them is that they have a tattoo

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I've always fancied the idea of getting LEFT and RIGHT done on my knuckles, though I'm not sure how to work it so that RIGHT fits (either have RI on the same knuckle or else it'll have to be spelt RITE which would look rubbish)

jamesmichaelward (jamesmichaelward), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

surely the availability of sooperdooper tattoo-removin' lazer-powered devices would [PARTIALLY, AT LEAST] defeat the point of having mad tatz that are, dude, a COMMITMENT or some shit.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not getting them to be sexy. Nor is it the most interesting thing about me.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I gots me five of them, both arms, back and leg. I think they are sexy, my wife does not.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i always wanted to put an anchor on my forearm. just like popeye. that is the ultimate tattoo.

joan vich (joan vich), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

the ultimate tattoo is closed eyelids tattooed on yr eyeballs

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i have none. i dont like them. they remind me of biro doodles. i find it weird that they dont change too, i'm always changing everything. one design for 53 years is too long for me (maybe 18 months?)

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Ive got an ankh and i love it, i think it'll look ok when im 70 cos i wont be able to look at it, its on my back, and i dont really care what other people think as Id be 70 and wouldnt give a shit!

Fuzzy Wuzzy (Madam Plinky), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm too fickle to get a tattoo, I'd hate it after a month. Now piercings on the other hand....

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

seven months pass...
This is mine:

Archel (Archel), Monday, 14 July 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Slow afternoon at work = me messing around with our digital camera + editing frantically to get abnormally large-looking breasts out of the resulting pix...

Archel (Archel), Monday, 14 July 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish i had the guts to get a tat!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 July 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I still haven't gotten the gift certificate I supposedly won, so I haven't gotten mine yet. There's a thread about it somewhere. But I still haven't picked a design yet either.

NA. (Nick A.), Monday, 14 July 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I have probably said this before, but when I got my first tattoo -- which was vaguely related to the academia part of my life -- I decided I wouldn't get another tattoo until I had a book out and would get a tattoo of the bar code.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 14 July 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd put mines up on here but my massive biceps and extremly hulk-like back will cause some people to faint.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 14 July 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

By the way, I like yours, Archel. It makes you look like a 3-star general.

NA. (Nick A.), Monday, 14 July 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to upload the pix of mine again. I don't have pictures of two of the three on my back but whatever.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 14 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Archel, abnormally large breasts are surely things to ADD to pics, not remove?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 14 July 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

*slaps Martin

Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 14 July 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark in defending Archel's honour shockah!

Archel (Archel), Monday, 14 July 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

DUD! Oh so dud. Especially when combined with revealing clothes to show them off.

Scaredy Cat, Monday, 14 July 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Breasts or tattoos?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 14 July 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Both, actually.

Scaredy Cat, Monday, 14 July 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

:(

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 07:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i have six tats but this is not even close to enough. the only thing holding me back is money.

My inkslinger has taken my initial idea for a lower back piece and turned it into a complete around the waist to the belly piece. And will do it for free b/c he wants to get it into an ink mag. It's an awesome piece, all texas related. Would include six shooters on my hips and a Texas star between my belly button and you know what. I just don't know if I can do it. . .

That Girl (thatgirl), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 07:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it really possible to get just one tattoo? Or do you get addicted to them?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

My girlfriend keeps talking about wanting another (she has two), and I keep pointing out, you know, you're only 23. You get another one now, you're still gonna want one when you're 27. And 30. And so on. Space it out!

That said, I have stopped myself several times from getting my second.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I have found them totally addictive.

*ties off arm, fires up needlegun*

That Girl (thatgirl), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

You and me both, chica. I got my first one at 26, and the last when I was 30... That's 6 now, and though I'm not sure about getting more, there is one I want covered up...

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I got all five of mine in a span of two years.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

It's just this thing...

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

6 in as many years. That number will increase dramactically in the next few months if I have any say in it.

That Girl (thatgirl), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sure I've posted mine before, but I really like it and am posting it again:

http://www.idea-inc.com/~bill/tat.jpg

Found out today my Spanish instructor has a tattoo on his arm which is of a dragon entwined in a section-break mark because he's a total geek and was into Lord of the Rings and DragonLance when he was younger.

If you can identify my tattoo and your name does not rhyme with Barton Ridmore, I will be surprised.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.mushrush.com/images/blog/tattoo1.jpg

Still planning on getting another, but it'll be pricey so I've been putting it off. Some of the spots where the ink didn't take on this one need to be touched up too, but it is a few years old already. One of these days...

martin m. (mushrush), Tuesday, 15 July 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

six months pass...
I finally went and got rid of the one I hated with passion.

Sorry they're both blurry, self-taken and all.

lovely! my most recent, a half-sleeve, is all healed up and maybe my favorite yet -- now contemplating possibilities for one to celebrate our newborn

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 20:20 (ten years ago)

not sure, either something related to his name or a heavy metal song title that feels connected in awesome script

The Complainte of Ray Tabano, Thursday, 1 January 2015 03:05 (ten years ago)

planning on getting my next one soon; will be my most ambitious and definitely most painful piece yet.

mister brevis (clouds), Thursday, 1 January 2015 03:20 (ten years ago)

although i only have two so i guess it's not that ambitious

mister brevis (clouds), Thursday, 1 January 2015 03:20 (ten years ago)
