to be brutally honest i've heard it's only a step or two up from Everybody Loves Raymond, which i saw on a plane once and immediately wished i'd unseen

I've always thought Seinfeld sucks because of my own allergy to slap-bass interludes between scenes. I can't get much past the horrible noise to appreciate the so-called comedy.

But it's OK to like Curb Your Enthusiasm, I suppose?

Love Curb, never got Seinfeld. This seems to be a commonly held position amongst my countrymen.

Curb is awesome. Arrested Development is my favourite show ever. My voting in this poll will however be almost exclusively British, for understandable formative reasons.

I'm guessing there will be more of a UK presence than in the 00s poll. And more comedy.

it most definitely is different altho it only just occurred to me some may think not. doubt it will make the list anyway but it was the first UK show to do 'fly on the wall' style camera view for fictional show iirc.

Seinfeld goes from good to really good to just fine to okay. I'd personally recommend season 4 to anyone who's on the fence, as it's the best-written of the seasons and actually hangs together as one long story (something they regrettably never really tried to do again).

I feel that Equinox, The Rough Guide, Goodness Gracious Me and Desmond's should be on this list

There's a handful of shows I really want to vote for that I haven't seen in ages, but the hard part is weighing them against the shows I've seen in reruns more recently but am less enthusiastic about.

I remember an Open University programme (might have been more than one) about rainbows as being one of my favourite progs of the decade

ok i've thrown together the 16 from the list i could bring myself to vote for- there was other stuff that i liked, but haven't seen nearly enough of to honestly vote for.

I had the opposite reaction to most of you - it was tough to actually find 25 that I *loved*.

this holds true for me too. having two terrestrial irish channels for most of the 90's didn't help, not to mention being 8 when the decade started.

If nothing else, these threads are helpful for working out how old people are.

12 shows; 9 British, 2 American, 1 Anglo-Irish

i just sent in a ballot with the full 25. mostly yank stuff. 5 british shows, 1 canadian. (and one of the u.k. shows was the crystal maze, which i have a lot of unjustifiable affection for.)

completely justifiable affection. i voted it 6th.

Got 39 ballots in so far. The score to beat for a top fifty place is 750, and 206 of the nominees have been voted for.

My ballot breakdown: 2 Canadian/American productions, 1 show whose rotating cast and production staff was largely British but which isn't a British show per se, 1 show produced for American television but which featured a large percentage of British material during the time that I was its biggest fan, 1 Danish show (which should be pretty durn easy to guess from the list of nominees), and the rest American. What can I say: my horizons were relatively narrow in the '90s.

It occurs to me now that any chance Riget had of making it into a top slot is pretty much nil since most of the few people aware of its existence (including me, honestly...I totally missed it the first time I went through the nominees) are more familiar with the title The Kingdom.

Submitted my ballot. It included a write-in for Goosebumps, which I have no doubt won't place, but I've been watching it lately with my kid and just wanted to say here that it was a great children's horror show.
