Within about a month of launching the Twitter feed, Halpern was getting offers for book deals, and he’s now signed a publishing deal with Harper Collins.

Now, the producers behind Will & Grace (David Kohan and Max Mutchnick) are signed on to produce and supervise the adaptation of this Twitter success story into a narrative—a multicamera family comedy on CBS. Halpern will co-write and co-executive produce the series with Patrick Schumacker, which will be developed by Warner Brothers TV and already has a script commitment.

The Twitter is funny as shit, I'll grant that, but jesus the dude has made a whopping 72 tweets so far and is getting all sorts of money thrown at him.

I mean, shit, just over 10,000 characters and the guy is getting book and TV deals. Where did I go wrong?

I'm not saying Shit My Dad Says isn't funny, but it's not exactly like Halpern has reinvented the wheel here. TV has a long history of basing shows around old men who say off-color things for laughs. Might as well call it Sanford & Son 2.0.
