Does the term "bimbo" have any use anymore?

It seems we've outgrown the term, and I don't think I've heard its use in like 10-15 years.

There's so much better slang that has replaced it.

when used to describe a certain kind of lady who studies broadcast journalism, it is highly apt

Puddle of Thudd (acoleuthic), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:41 (sixteen years ago)

i will always vouch for bimbo, a fantastic term, always in style

oops i accidentally made it personal (surm), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:42 (sixteen years ago)

when used indiscriminately, like so many terms, it becomes sexist and objectionable, and thus must be used with care

sarahel, Monday, 30 November 2009 03:46 (sixteen years ago)

Sure it's a good term- but the 3 chicks above are better used as 'tools'.

Tooth Far I (csa), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:49 (sixteen years ago)

tool is a term 4 dudes btw

omaha deserved 311 (call all destroyer), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:51 (sixteen years ago)

how do you feel about himbo

鬼の手 (Edward III), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:52 (sixteen years ago)

x-post Nah I use tool to describe both dudes and girls.

OK with bimbo btw. It's the best word to describe a specific type of person. Himbo is AWFUL. HOW SAYS THAT?!

bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:53 (sixteen years ago)

errr WHO not HOW obv.

bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:53 (sixteen years ago)

not *every* girl who does broadcast journalism - just a certain kind

also certain hairdressers - bimbos have work and careers - skills - and they have charms

Puddle of Thudd (acoleuthic), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:54 (sixteen years ago)

I'm sure the 3 chicks are pretty used to be described that way. It's pretty genderless as a term as ENBB says.
Bimbo is a Bimbo.

Tooth Far I (csa), Monday, 30 November 2009 03:58 (sixteen years ago)

i just thought it was funny - that's what my MA was technically in, though I actually focused on other subjects. I was one of a handful of people that weren't the future news producers and anchors of the Bay Area or future sound engineers.

Your MA was in Bimboism? Brilliant. xpost

Tooth Far I (csa), Monday, 30 November 2009 04:05 (sixteen years ago)

that is still my favorite paparazzi picture of all time

oops i accidentally made it personal (surm), Monday, 30 November 2009 04:06 (sixteen years ago)

xp - yeah, but i didn't actually take any bimboism classes.

sarahel, Monday, 30 November 2009 04:08 (sixteen years ago)

I always associate "bimbo" with a derisive dismissal of blonde sexpot characters, usually by other characters, in 80s movies.

(google image searching for 'bimbo's' was a bad idea.)

Tooth Far I (csa), Monday, 30 November 2009 04:11 (sixteen years ago)

For me the bimbo archetype has to be Chrissy from 3's Company:

The term "bimbo" died when Wally George's career died... 1989 or so.

http://76.163.242.121/uploaded_images/wally-george-hot-seat-717464.jpg

In between the scripted liberals he'd invited for ur discussion on Hot Seat, sometimes he would invite hot chicks (well, O.C. Hot Chicks (TM)) on the show after which Wally George poorly feigned shock and pointed at each girl screaming "and this BIIIM-BOOOO!!!"
