The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Friday, 4 December 2009 03:39 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think I could vote for anything besides L'avventura.

The scene near the end is burned in my mind forever.

t0dd swiss, Friday, 4 December 2009 04:32 (fifteen years ago)

I'm supposed to choose between the two separate parts of Ivan the Terrible?

Oh wait, lucky for me there's Do the Right Thing to fall back on.

really senile old crap shit (Eric H.), Friday, 4 December 2009 04:34 (fifteen years ago)

Oh wait, the two Sirks as well? ... Sorry, can't do it.

really senile old crap shit (Eric H.), Friday, 4 December 2009 04:34 (fifteen years ago)

Do the Right Thing is absolutely the best Spike Lee joint in my opinion.

Ivan the Terrible(s) are quite good, but I do really prefer Eisenstein's silents.

t0dd swiss, Friday, 4 December 2009 04:38 (fifteen years ago)

lots of things i like, but do the right thing has particular resonances with me that nothing else on the list can compete with.

L'avventura but this reminded me of how big a hole in my general knowledge exists as I haven't seen a Sirk film yet :-(

Shh! It's NOT Me!, Friday, 4 December 2009 15:24 (fifteen years ago)

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Saturday, 5 December 2009 00:44 (fifteen years ago)

Gimme Shelter, tbh

The reverse TARDIS of pasta (Niles Caulder), Saturday, 5 December 2009 04:08 (fifteen years ago)

I'd have voted for L'avventura a few years ago, but I'd watch I Know Where I'm Going! right now. Woulda voted for All That Heaven Allows had Sirk ended the movie with Jane Wyman entombed in her perfect house with the color TV her kids bought for her.

Hell is other people. In an ILE film forum. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 5 December 2009 04:14 (fifteen years ago)
