Not a great actress, but so well-used in Cluny Brown and especially Beat the Devil, in which she's the only one in the cast who's in on the joke.

Can't believe she was still with us until so recently. RIP.

Over on the rolling thread -- but good to have this separate one.

Watching Cluny Brown now...a total charmer, one of Lubitsch's three or four best.

I think the first 2 films I saw her in were The Song of Bernadette and The Towering Inferno.

I had forgotten she was married to Robert Walker before Selznick. (so JRedd, her son is Charlie X!)

Must catch up w/ Minnelli's Madame Bovary:

Oh man, RIP

Which one's George Clinton? (Tom D.), Friday, 18 December 2009 16:16 (fifteen years ago)

I knew all about that, Morbius, it is a very sad story- Robert Walker never got over it- but I didn't want to bring that up and bring everybody down. (Although since this is an Alfred thread, I almost said "I had no use for her, but RIP anyway")

Beat the Devil was a fine film. I guess that leaves only Bogey alive from the original cast.

ha ha? Gina Lollobrigida is alive (I saw her get onstage for a minute at a Liza Minnelli show a couple summers ago).
