I only just learned about this dude half an hour ago sitting here in a bar with my sis and some friends and watching this guy run around Irish moors with a sheepskin. Wikipedia is suitably amusing/bemusing. I can't decide if he's a mad genius, a prick or both.

Both.

Yeah we were all voting that.

totally both, but if you can find his episode with will ferrell it's a must see- guy has no concept of humour, and ferrell doesn't seem to know what to do with him at times.

Okay that sounds kinda essential. My sis is all "I can't even imagine what Will Ferrell would do there."

ferrell manages the physical hardship side of things an order of magnitude better than bear handles being part of a zany adlib duo.

"Really, I wish to hell I could quit you, but I'm fucking stuck here."

it was, and I say this a lot but I really mean it this time, the gayest thing I have ever seen. it was really breathtaking and beautiful. They dug a snow shelter for two out of a wall of snow on a mountainside. they also stripped down to thermals to cross an icy stream and ended up hanging face to face from the side of a helicopter.

they also crossed a gorge by crawling along a rope (penis metaphor? or symbol for advancing gay rights?), cheering each other on and holding each other's safety line

RIP. (The show, not the guy.)

His show was utterly ridiculous -- and potentially harmful for anyone who took it seriously as giving sensible advice on wilderness survival.

One of my favourite photos: soaking wet and sharing a cup of tea with Prime Minister Modi after our @Discovery jungle adventure together. This moment reminds me of how the wild is the ultimate leveller. We are all the same behind the titles and masks. #adventureunitesus pic.twitter.com/9EQPAeUOLO— Bear Grylls (@BearGrylls) February 5, 2021
Photos taken of famous people together that you would never have expected to be together but make you wish both of them would die extremely painful deaths.
