Can you describe how the duplicates were created? There are usually sorts you can do that can make the process of getting rid of them easier.

Go to Doug's Applescripts for iTunes and search "Duplicates" -- turnes up these 3 that look like they should do the job.

the dupes showed up because in the process of transferring files from my old shitty computer to my newer slightly less shitty computer, i did a bunch of stupid stuff re: consolidating libraries and whoo hoo there you go.

Yeah you can probably just do a global search for music files and then sort your results by Date Created or some such thing.

having exactly same problem here, after a transfer of library. I've been trying to configure smart playlists but some legitimate duplicates always creep through making me nervous to to do a mass delete
