They have the same eyes!

Mark G, Wednesday, 6 January 2010 17:36 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, this is not a thing but it's Julianna Margulies BTW. Fun fact: her dad wrote the 'plop plop, fizz fizz' jingle for Alka-Seltzer.

keyser (suzy), Wednesday, 6 January 2010 17:38 (sixteen years ago)

I'm fine with margulies but moore easily.

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 6 January 2010 17:39 (sixteen years ago)

Moore by leaps and bounds.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 6 January 2010 17:43 (sixteen years ago)

I will go ahead and state for both myself and Mr. Que: Moore

quincie, Wednesday, 6 January 2010 17:46 (sixteen years ago)

Moore is terrible in A Single Man, so I almost gave it to Margulies just because.

went Moore, but Margulies is great in Sopranos

Hell is other people. In an ILE film forum. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 6 January 2010 18:03 (sixteen years ago)

I abstain bcz I'm not sure i've seen Margulies in anything (she was on ER? saw it twice), and Alfred is right about A Single Man.

old ER was good. there a crappy movie called "price above rubies" and margulies is ok in that too.

Having a really hard time imagining what makes a human being favor Marg here barring some sort of irrational hatred of Moore.

That last outfit of Margulies is a bit weird. Esp the top.

Anyway she was in Homicide! The violin playing waitress (tho sadly not simultaneously lol)

Patriarchy Oppression Machine (history mayne), Thursday, 7 January 2010 13:40 (sixteen years ago)

I do not know why Margulies straightens her hair. She has the most amazing ringlets - I was super-envious of that hair in college.

keyser (suzy), Thursday, 7 January 2010 13:54 (sixteen years ago)

I agree, Suzy. In Homicide her eyebrows were far bushier.

Nathalie (stevienixed), Thursday, 7 January 2010 14:23 (sixteen years ago)

ok, aside from the 2 ER episodes the only Margulies work I appear to have seen is Richard Linklater's The Newton Boys, of which I only remember that it had a studly cast and Eric Bogosian was sitting behind me.

Rage, Resentment, Spleen (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:01 (sixteen years ago)

I really only know her from TV but I loved her character on "ER".

not gonna lie, this poll is pretty much the result of irrational Moore dislike combined with free association but it did give me some Margulies things to check out

ah ah oh ooh ooh oh ah ah ah ah ah oh ah ah aha ooh (HI DERE), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:06 (sixteen years ago)

Moore has impressed me since Vanya on 42nd Street, but her career is justified by Far From Heaven and her Baez impression in I'm Not There alone.

Rage, Resentment, Spleen (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:38 (sixteen years ago)

What, her bare vag in Short Cuts failed to turn you on?

Hell is other people. In an ILE film forum. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:40 (sixteen years ago)

oh yeah, I didn't recognize it

Rage, Resentment, Spleen (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:41 (sixteen years ago)

"Far From Heaven" is the only Moore performance that I think justifies the hype; I actively loathed her in pretty much everything else I've seen her in (except "Children of Men", mostly because of what happened to her).

ah ah oh ooh ooh oh ah ah ah ah ah oh ah ah aha ooh (HI DERE), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:43 (sixteen years ago)

i don't quite have Perry-level dislike of Moore, but she's been a drag in far more movies than she's been good in. also don't understand the sexiest woman alive thing, she's a classy broad and all but i've never really looked at her that way in the slightest. Margulies is v hot though.

call me mr. brimstone, i can melt your flesh off (some dude), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:43 (sixteen years ago)

Michael Caine's made more terrible movies than anyone we've ever polled, but they're not held against him, right?

Good Moore performances: Vanya on 42 Street, Safe, Boogie Nights, Far From Heaven, I'm Not There. She can a freckled drip, though, sure.

Hell is other people. In an ILE film forum. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:47 (sixteen years ago)

*she can be

Hell is other people. In an ILE film forum. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:47 (sixteen years ago)

ya but how many other actresses can play freckled so convincingly and consistently?

meryl streep post-brazilian (s1ocki), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:48 (sixteen years ago)

ha – just realized that Moore is "Domino Dancing" in red-haired freckled form to Dan.

Hell is other people. In an ILE film forum. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:48 (sixteen years ago)

a hit-or-miss actress in things i tend to see vs. a reliably ok actress in things i tend to ignore

da croupier, Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:50 (sixteen years ago)

If Michael Caine's bad movies aren't held against him, it's because he is usually not the main reason why the movie is terrible. "Goldmember" had way more problems in it than Michael Caine, for example.

In fairness, I don't hold "The Hours" against Julianne Moore because everyone else in it except for Toni Collette and Meryl Streep was really the end of the fucking world and should never have been offered a role again.

ah ah oh ooh ooh oh ah ah ah ah ah oh ah ah aha ooh (HI DERE), Thursday, 7 January 2010 15:52 (sixteen years ago)

I would have said Moore, then Margulies, then Moore again, and now Margulies on the basis of "The Good Wife. She's such a good wife!

mojitos (a cocktail) (Cave17Matt), Thursday, 7 January 2010 16:05 (sixteen years ago)

is j. moore on her knees in that pic? i was not expecting j. margulies to be the taller of the two

mookieproof, Thursday, 7 January 2010 16:08 (sixteen years ago)

lmao @ She's such a good wife!

some dude, Thursday, 7 January 2010 16:19 (sixteen years ago)

Moore is 5'4" and Marg is 5'6" acc to google

some dude, Thursday, 7 January 2010 16:23 (sixteen years ago)

i think Moore's statuesque features make her seem like she could be tall but i can definitely easily picture her being short

some dude, Thursday, 7 January 2010 16:23 (sixteen years ago)

5'4"!

chartres (goole), Thursday, 7 January 2010 16:24 (sixteen years ago)

ok, aside from the 2 ER episodes the only Margulies work I appear to have seen is Richard Linklater's The Newton Boys, of which I only remember that it had a studly cast and Eric Bogosian was sitting behind me.

She was good in the Sopranos and Traveller (underrated movie in general). Oh yeah, she was also in the ridiculous but fun TV version of The Mists Of Avalon

Voted Moore - if only for Safe
