Can I just say how much I loathe this bit that has come to be part of a lot of spin narrative:
The National Republican Senatorial Committee was critical of Reid, saying Nevada deserves better and Reid's fellow Democrats should condemn the remarks.
YES WHY AREN'T THEY CONDEMNING THE REMARKS OMG WHAT ARE THEY HIDING, BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

x[ kinda seems like a variation on people suggesting that there's a barrier to the kind of candidate that might transcend the race issue, ie cool placid guy in suit = o k, 'angry black man' not acknowledging kansas heritage/christian values = not viable. maybe i am taking it lightly?, i don't kow.

ISTR 'articulate and clean' being forgiven by Obama - also this is from the same Mark Halperin book where the author claims Hillary Clinton lost the Kennedy endorsement because Bill complained that in the old days O would be serving them coffee (lolirony because if we're all gonna play heredity is destiny, Bill, then Obama's still a prof and Bill becomes a used-car salesman).
