Well, obviously E.T. knows Yoda, as can be seen in the E.T. movie. However, E.T. remains stone faced when Elliot shows him his Star Wars toys. Which might mean that he isn't familiar with Yoda (and the world he lives/lived in) but with aliens from the same race as Yoda. Possible, as space is a mighty big place.

The actual individual alien from the E.T. movie would've lived some time after the events of the Star Wars films, seeing as they happened A Long Time Ago. It's possible Yoda is part of his race's history or mythology, though.
