I'm sure this must have been mentioned somewhere already since it was international news this week.

Filmmaker Fede Alvarez made a 5 minute short for a reported $300 (truthbomb: it's more like a dozen CG animators and video folks donating their time), the video goes viral and Youtube, and Sam Raimi steps in with a $30 million production deal.

This is what we all dream about. Nice to see it happen to someone.

kind of a nice story I guess, but I'm not really that impressed with the video. kept waiting for something cool to happen besides more robots + explosions, then next thing I knew it was over. I could just watch Transformers if I wanted that (although this does have the notable virtue of being only 4 minutes long).

Sure it's not impressive compared to a feature film. But for a budget Youtube film from South America, it's pretty swell.

Agreed about the soundtrack.
