no, I'm not allowed to leave it at that because several other people had the same idea. That should do it.

Tim Bateman, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jesus, eh who knows--he seems cool enuff until you look at all the fucked up shit people have done in his name (Is there anything MORE dud than Jerry Falwell, really? I mean other than Hitler.) Christianity is mostly dud as a religion. And religion across the board is really a pretty awful dud.

Alex in SF, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i wouldn't blame jesus for chritianity. it's not his fault. but at the same time the dude's never done nothing for me personally so. . .

Ms. S., Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dude needed a haircut and a good wash. I hear rumours he married a hooker and his kids legged it to France though (http://www.disinfo.com/pages/dossier/id96/pg1 - good book, complete cobblers, obviously)

dr daif, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

In a way the entire story of Jesus is really tragic, considering that he martyred himself for the most ungrateful creatures on the planet: humanity. I sometimes tihnk he would have been better off running out on his disciples and leading a Robin Hood-esque life.

Dan Perry, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

left back for Valencia? not bad, won't get in the national side though.

chris, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Blaming Jesus for Jerry Falwell is like blaming Tori Amos for Jewel....

(Oh, btw, I'm a Catholic, so Christ rocks the Kasbah)

Dom Passantino, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've often wondered what kind of "job" Jesus would have if s/he were around today. I know I know having a job kind of contravenes everything he said but times are different so maybe his message would be too, and be inclusive enough for people who, I dunno, actually have to earn a living and want a few tchotchkes around the house. Are tchotchkes Satanic? Anyway, I've thought either: 1) a rapper or 2) a stand-up comedian. I've always imagined the Sermon on the Mount as an elaborate stand-up act.

Obviously he'd be in a mental institute trying to convince Napoleon III, his roommate, that HE REALLY IS JESUS.

nathalie, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If he did those miracles, definitely c but a bit creepily d. if not, mostly d but c for being interesting and for cathedrals.

Christ rocks the Kasbah

The idea of The Man in fact being Joe Strummer hurts me in my heart, and I must ask that you forebear this specific comparison.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Snap ... Me and Jesus go way back, man ... We used to hang with his cousins Pablo and Chet down in east-side Dogpatch ... You know, by Misty Aguilera's place ... Anyway Jesus was like the craziest little Puerto Rican I ever met, we had good times, he could hook you up left or right ... Classic all the way ... One of the smartest guys I knew back then, I miss him, man.

Jesus doing a surgical consult.

It wasn't free.

Jesus's receding hairline is a nice touch there. Makes him much more relatable to white men. And the fact that He forgot to gown up and wear a surgical mask makes Him more relatable to hardcore covid deniers.

when the patient dies, Jesus then goes to billing to help them collect the co-payment

Gardyloominati (Neanderthal), Monday, 25 October 2021 18:03 (four years ago)

jesus: "No. No, that's no- just let me do it"
surgeon: "Like this? Wait."
jesus: "Give me the... Ron. Seriously now, please."
