Yr breakfast bowl: cereal first vs. milk first

cereal first obv...you know how much cereal you want, but you don't know how much milk you'll need

Cereal first – cereal floats in milk. If you pour the milk in first, the cereal will sit on top of it & it won't fit very well in the bowl, forcing you to submerge it with the aid of a spoon. Cereal first avoids this problem.

Cereal first, except when you've got so little milk that it may not be enough for a normal bowl. Then milk first so you can add as much cereal as possible and still get a good ratio.

I have a friend who does this! I've never seen her do it, but she's told me she does. Apparently she only puts in enough cereal for a spoonful, and then keeps adding spoonsful as she eats them. I think she also mentioned that she adds an ice cube to the milk.

if u add enough cereal first, the top layer will have just a splash of the liquid, thus texture stratification is *achieved*

I always tamp down the cereal so that it all gets milk on it before eating any. If I wanted dry, crunchy cereal I'd eat it out of the box!

a fortnightly mood for me.

Thinking about the premise of milk first and it struck me that for someone who considered the milk to be fundamental part of the meal, with the cereal being a supplement to that, milk first would make perfectly good sense.

One 9-ounce package cheese and roasted garlic tortellini first

cereal first, then pour on milk, then put it in the bowl

yesterday i put milk in the mug before coffee

I microwave my cereal, so milk first would result in too much milk and probably overflowing of the bowl with over-hot milk.
