giving away other people's phone numbers c/d?

this has happened a couple of times when this person has made acquaintance with a friend of mine, then said person would ask me for the friend's number. When i refuse on the grounds of it not being the polite thing to do to give away phone numbers unsolicited she would look at me with disdain like I'm the biggest weirdo in the world.

It was not for an emergency, and they are all on facebook so numbers can be solicited if required? Am I weird for thinking phone numbers are something private that should only be given in trust?

yes that is the thing that i don't understand!! the last time it happened the other person was still in the same bar, about to leave but saying goodbye to someone! she could have just walked over!!!!!!!! but she wouldn't!! it was like it's pathological.
