I'd heard that Besson was making a film version of Tardi's comic book stories, but information was pretty sparse. At least until I found a page with some teaser trailers Looks good. Maybe it'll even get released in the states.
The comics are worth checking out... In short: pre-WWI Paris + female Indiana Jones + occult secret societies + government corruption + pterodactyls

even on the back of a limited release foreign flick.
I love the comic this is based on (and Tardi in general), so this sounds pretty cool! Let's hope Besson gets it right.

Doesn't it look far too slick for an Adele adaption? Too much Indiana Jones? Also, Adele is a reporter and travels to Egypt? She is not a reporter in the books (she is a writer of terrible crime pulp novels) and hasn't left Paris for even a day.

I'm referring to this page, by the way: http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/11/27/first-look-luc-bessons-adele-blanc-sec-starring-louise-bourgoin/
They removed the pictures, that made me think of Jones.

this isn't going to bring any more Tardi into translation - Kim Thompson said last year, before their program started, that it would be a few years before he wanted to do any Blanc-Sec, even with the film coming out. (This was largely because there are several in print from NBM already.) War Of The Trenches is up next, IIRC.

Anyway... Besson is already talking about his next movie when this apparently didn't get any distribution whatsoever.

Just watched it, and... don't really know what to say. It starts as Amelie, becomes Indiana Jones, and then transforms into something quite its own. A mixed bag that doesn't seem to be able to strike the proper tone. It looks a bit cheap, but I feel that was intended. The comic series is a parody on a cheap genre too.
Definitely not a movie for purists, as the screenplay is loosely composed of elements from all Adele books (and some of Tardi's others) and all the characters have been assassinated. Assassinated, yes, as Adele has nothing to do with her comic book counterpart (her motives are at times even the polar opposites), which applies to all the other characters too. You recognize them by name only.
