like i hadn't thought about tiramisu in months and now i can't stop but it's 11pm on a sunday night and i just don't think there's any scope to acquire any :(
― لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Sunday, 7 February 2010 23:03 (fifteen years ago)
Tiramisu should be nice and soggy with the coffee liqueur or whatever it is. Dry tiramisu = :((
― Not the real Village People, Sunday, 7 February 2010 23:05 (fifteen years ago)
I don't like coffee or alcohol, so I don't love tiramisu. But I'm probably the only one.

i don't like coffee so i dip my lady fingers in hot cocoa
― jew bee or nazi bee (k3vin k.), Sunday, 7 February 2010 23:07 (fifteen years ago)
I love tiramisu. Damn I want some now. It's like someone saying "Marmite" (if you like Marmite that is, which I do) when you're miles away from any Marmite.

nearly bought some on the way home too dammit
― mdskltr (blueski), Sunday, 7 February 2010 23:09 (fifteen years ago)
I like tiramisu but I think it's sorta overrated so I guess I don't love tiramisu
― iatee, Sunday, 7 February 2010 23:22 (fifteen years ago)
i love tiramisu but i agree that it's overrated.
― from peanut to president (get bent), Sunday, 7 February 2010 23:29 (fifteen years ago)
i don't like it as a cake, i like it served in a glass with a fuckload of rum.

Tiramisu is best when it's just cakey enough to maintain it's shape, but mostly soggy.
Tiramisu gelato is way way underrated.
― Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 7 February 2010 23:48 (fifteen years ago)
me because coffee tastes like ass poop smells and i dont eat poop

I don't like coffee and am not a big drinker, but I do like Tiramisu.
I think it's perhaps my being afraid of vices, meaning that I can best accept them in a decidedly palatable cake-based format.

don't like tiramisu, more into crispy/crumbly textures

WHo ARE these people who don't like coffee?

I was amazed to find that tiramisu is a modern invention, OED can't find any documented eveidence of the word before 1983. I though it was something that had been made for hundreds of years.
― The Man With the Magic Eardrums (Billy Dods), Monday, 8 February 2010 11:00 (fifteen years ago)
Tiramisu is recent, but there's a long history of Italians combining finger biscuits, mascarpone, sugar, etc., etc..
― might seem normal (snoball), Monday, 8 February 2010 11:06 (fifteen years ago)
Tiramisu gelato is in no way underrated - at least not by me.
― spay or neuter your blue dog (suzy), Monday, 8 February 2010 11:45 (fifteen years ago)
The phrase tirami su literally means "pick me up"
i only noticed this a few months ago having eaten tiramisu for yearsit's a solid commonplace, occasionally excellent (freshly made somewhere nice) and simple enough that even supermarket versions usually alright too
― nakhchivan, Monday, 8 February 2010 12:44 (fifteen years ago)
<3 tiramisu
― ice cr?m, Monday, 8 February 2010 13:03 (fifteen years ago)
Good tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts. Mmmmmmmm.
― t(o_o)t (ENBB), Monday, 8 February 2010 13:06 (fifteen years ago)
As far as supermarket versions go, Morrison's is the best IMO.
― nate woolls, Monday, 8 February 2010 13:08 (fifteen years ago)
Mrs V made Tiramisu yesterday. It was awesome. We're finishing it tonight.
― Mughal Beige (Noodle Vague), Monday, 8 February 2010 13:36 (fifteen years ago)
Em REALLY doesn't like tiramisu so I've never got to make it.
― No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 8 February 2010 13:54 (fifteen years ago)
REALLY doesn't like COFFEE, sorry.
It's odd, I used to like coffee-flavoured cakes for years before I actually liked coffee. You should just make one anyway Nick and eat it all yourself.
― Mughal Beige (Noodle Vague), Monday, 8 February 2010 14:01 (fifteen years ago)
I enjoy tiramisu, but it's too soggy to be cake and too solid to drink in normal booze form, and just not satisfying enough to make my top, say, 10 best desserts.
― Let's see how tough Aquaman is once we get him in the water. (Laurel), Monday, 8 February 2010 14:58 (fifteen years ago)
Nick, you should get Em to try it - I hate coffee in ice cream and cake but tbh the mascarpone/cookies/cocoa powder does an effective override.
― spay or neuter your blue dog (suzy), Monday, 8 February 2010 15:14 (fifteen years ago)
I may well do that, but it'll have to be after the wedding now; veto on all desserts before we get married...
― No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 8 February 2010 15:29 (fifteen years ago)
Also I think there just might be a few places in New York that could provide a decent tiramisu.
― spay or neuter your blue dog (suzy), Monday, 8 February 2010 15:33 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, we're planning on getting as fat as possible in 4 days.
― No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 8 February 2010 15:36 (fifteen years ago)
I'm one of those folks in the "Tiramisu is overrated" camp. It's a fine dessert, I'll eat it if it is placed in front of me. But I just don't get people who see it as the be-all end-all of desserts. There are a lot of these people, and I just can't relate.
Meanwhile, I just chowed down on a mini cupcake-sized Boston Cream Pie that my sister-in-law whipped up yesterday, and it was damn good.
― Moodles, Monday, 8 February 2010 15:38 (fifteen years ago)
It's got booze in it. It's hard to screw up when making it, so it's easy to make yourself, and the quality of shop bought ones varies between "good" and "excellent", where for most other desserts it's "garbage" to "reasonable" and "excellent if you want to spend a lot of money in a fancy restaurant".
― might seem normal (snoball), Monday, 8 February 2010 15:43 (fifteen years ago)
There's a sushi place we go that does green tea tiramisu. It's a nice twist.
― Jaq, Monday, 8 February 2010 16:59 (fifteen years ago)
I have tried this multiple times and I DO NOT love tiramisu due to its:
― 26 Mixes Focaccia (Stevie D), Monday, 8 February 2010 17:05 (fifteen years ago)
A good tiramisu is nice but a crap tiramisu, which is a lot of it, is a too sweet, too heavy on the dairy (leaving a greasy coating in teh mouth), and just too much of a dose overall.
