hey, look now, have your read the book, and have you seen the film, and have you told me about it yet?

yes, yes and no

(i should probably add something to that, but it was a long time ago, so I only have hazy recollections. sorry)

Only seen the movie - wonderful 'zany' nouvelle vague fun, a great advert for swinging sixties Paris - groovy colours, too.

Also search: the 'Lift to the Scaffold' S/T by Miles Davis.

I haven't read the book and I haven't seen the film. I have, though, read some other Raymond Queneau books, and I love them. He has this way of working narratives in which things seem to teeter on the verge of making sense and then fall apart, or vice versa. I loved St. Glinglin and Pierrot, Mon Ami.

I generally like those OuLiPo fellows, though.

i own the book in french: i bought it in paris years ago in a fit of gilbert adairishness

Heh I didn't know (or had forgotten) it was based on a Queneau nov - his 'Exercises in Style' is GRATE!

eleven months pass...

i started reading 'children of clay' after years of lugging it around unread in moving boxes, thinking it was some kind of snoozefest 'serious novel'

but it is already fucking hilarious. and nearly every sentence is a gem.

would be a good study aid for people planning on taking the GRE too

j., Friday, 4 July 2014 12:37 (eleven years ago)

I'd like to read that (gesture)
