rooting for JWaxman, TRautureau and Susur Lee...

i enjoy Wylie's conceptual cooking but dude is not bred for competition, last season he ran around aimlessly half the time looking supremely confused.

No NoCal chefs is kind of a surprise.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 22:12 (fifteen years ago)

Rick Moonen was my favorite contestant outside of Bayless last season so I'm glad he's getting another go. I really don't know who most of the rest are, but all I know about chefs is who I've seen on TC previously...
Still, 2nd on the Bay Area/NorCal shutout.

Kinda weird that chefs from last season are competing again.

Lusty Mo Frazier (jaymc), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 23:18 (fifteen years ago)

I guess the upside to Bayless winning is that he won't be back.

vag white band (jeff), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 23:25 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe not, considering this talent appears to be a step down from last year (in fact, Michael Voltaggio was probably more decorated than 80% of these chefs going into last non-Master's season) and producers were probably anxious to get some recognizable talent on board.

that was a xpost btw

┌∩┐(◕_◕)┌∩┐ (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 23:29 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, and I guess there's only six of them: Bowles, Dufresne, Lefebvre, Moonen, Peel, and Waxman.

Lusty Mo Frazier (jaymc), Wednesday, 10 February 2010 23:39 (fifteen years ago)

No need for xpost notice... Bayless will be back for sure.

Speaking of Voltaggio...

one month passes...

Man, I should've guessed from the moment she cut her finger in the Quickfire that they were setting up Carmen to win.

jaymc, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 19:39 (fifteen years ago)

this show is kind of a snooze

Yeah, also what was up w/Kelly Choi judging the Quickfire, just b/c she is a grilled-cheese aficionado or whatever?

jaymc, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

some of last years chefs in the next episode. should be a little fun/drama there maybe

Aerosol, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 20:28 (fifteen years ago)

Susur lee is awesome!

Aerosol, Thursday, 29 April 2010 22:06 (fifteen years ago)

nice of them to run a commercial for next week's episode right in the middle of and thus spoiling this week's episode

jeff, Thursday, 29 April 2010 22:13 (fifteen years ago)

this season blows...

I haven't seen the most recent one yet, but so far it's made for less than compelling viewing.

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Thursday, 29 April 2010 22:17 (fifteen years ago)

Yall are probably right but I'm addicted to Top Chef so I'll keep on watching this anyways

I definitely prefer the normal Top Chef but they need some better contestants next season

CaptainLorax, Friday, 30 April 2010 04:45 (fifteen years ago)

(to clarify - they need sharper contestants on the regular show)

CaptainLorax, Friday, 30 April 2010 04:47 (fifteen years ago)

susur seems like an awesome dude but his plating needs work.

tehresa, Friday, 30 April 2010 04:50 (fifteen years ago)

I thought the returning chef one was hysterical (esp. the general real or exaggerated disdain for Ludo). Otherwise it's been dull watching.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Friday, 30 April 2010 04:51 (fifteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

Noooooo not Susan Feniger. :(

no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Thursday, 27 May 2010 05:25 (fifteen years ago)

The show got good as soon as it was a bunch of finalists

And CONGRATULATIONS to Marcus Samuelsson!
(I was cheering him on the most this season because I liked seeing world cuisine, hearing about the strong flavors, and generally favorable reviews that he received)

It makes me happy that Mexican food won last season and a guy that did a lot of African food, curries and such wins this season

suck it classic cuisine!
