today im wearing them around the house, belt-free, and they actually seem surprisingly fine

and yet

i put on a belt, to go out

and now they seem to be too long again!

optical illusion caused by belts, pretty common

This seems to be a case of belt-squeeze, where the presence of a belt has squeezed the fabric and lengthened it -- sort of like squeezing toothpaste from a tube. Very rare phenomenon. You should should call the local university physics dept and invite them to do some measurements.

maybe you're cinching yr belt at the hips but without the belt the pants sit naturally closer to your waist?

can 'belts' have a negative effect?

(▀▄▀▄) (Lamp), Thursday, 18 February 2010 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

i guess i mean it seems:

a) the place where the pants hang naturally is higher or causes them to fall differently than the place where you belt them
b) u were wearing different shoes inside?
c) u shld just get your pants hemmed or put a cool-looking cuff on the bottom

can 'belts' have a negative effect?

This is a question for Ask A Drunk. The answer: it depends on what effects you consider to be negative.
