Good question Clippy, very difficult to decide, I am going to have a good think about that one and get back to you. Are there any limits to the number of band members?

As a soul fan, first and foremost, it's very hard to improve on the line-up on the early '70s Al Green albums: Willie Mitchell producing, Al on vocals, Al Jackson Jr on drums, and the Hodges brothers on guitar/bass/organ. Maybe we could bring Steve Cropper or possibly Robert Ward as a second guitarist, and Isaac Hayes on piano.

In disco, I hardly think the Chic three piece of Rodgers, Edwards and drummer Tony Thompson can be beaten. I'll draft in Candi Staton on vocals. They can write and produce their own stuff.

If I'm thinking rock, I'd probably have Jerry Lee Lewis on vocals, Esquerita on piano, Keith Richards on guitar (rhythm, basically), Keith Moon on drums and probably John Entwistle on bass.

If a more modern incarnation, we'll have a young Johnny Rotten on vocals, Klaus Fluoride on bass, Robert Quine and J. Mascis on guitars and I can't think who I want on drums. Probably the guy out of Napalm Death whose name I can't recall right now.

And can we have a jazz group with Miles, Coltrane, Art Tatum and Art Blakey? Do we want a singer? I don't see Louis Prima or Billie Holiday fitting in, really.

The pinefox has successfully hurt my head and I congratulate him.

How about a supergroup made up of programs and hardware?

Vic Godard and Marcello Carlin on dual lead vocals. 1965 Pete Townshend on Guitar. Una Baines (Fall, Blue Orchids) on keybds, Gaye Advert on Bass and Hugh Grundy (Zombies) on drums. King Tubby returns from the grave to produce. I'll roadie and sweep up the bits of Pete's guitars.
