I know we are still waiting on Ronan to tell us what he wants to do, but this is a thread to say goodbye to Ronan and try and get him to go to the pub with us tonight.

So roll out the barrel and lets see if we can cheer him up.

Pete, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I second that, Pete: I'm very up for a drink tonight, and it would be good to see Ronan off (it would be better if there were no cause to do so, but since there is...). I think we should make concrete arrangements - is the Glasshouse Stores the favourite? I can get there at 5.30 or 6 quite easily.

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sounds like a plan. Anyone have any inspriration for good pubs to go to? I'm a little tired of the Glssshouse Stores, but am quite attracted by the thought of the cheap beer in Sam Smiths pubs... Princess Louise? Yorkshire Grey? Anyone have any bright ideas?

An Roan, bring your brother...

Tim, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have no great attachment to the Glasshouse Stores. Is not The Blue Posts on Newman Street also Sam Smiths? Someone suggest one and I'll come along. Graham wants to know before 3.30.

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I won't know for sure what I can do before 3.30 but arrange away. I'm not sure about bringing my brother, if he suggests going out for dinner or something I can't really turn around and suggest otherwise. As I say make your plans and if I can go I can go and if I can't I can't.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yorkshire Grey sounds good to me. Tell the punters how to get there Tim.

Pete, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not sure I'll have time to check the interweb again today and my phone is still fucked so fingers crossed we do settle on the Yorkshire Grey.

Tom, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How about the Yorkshire Grey on Langham St?

NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE YORKSHIRE GREY ON THE CORNER OF THEOBALD'S ROAD AND GRAYS INN ROAD.

Langham Stis one of those streets North of Oxford St... Not the biggest but a decent enough place in a Sam Smiths sort of way.

Tim, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yorkshire Grey on Langham it is. For those without maps handy, Langham St. takes off East from the bend where Regent Street becomes Portland Place (or vice versa), and crosses Great Portland St about halfway up. I can get there by about 5.10, if anyone is expecting to be there as early as that.

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh that Yorkshire Grey. Yep, even better cos I've never been in there (fulfilling my virgin pub desire).

Pete, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Heh, some Yorkshire Grey confusion. I'm not likely to be leaving work until 6ish, and the Clerkenwell YG isn't far out of the way so I can pop in there to mop up any confused souls (i.e. Tom) on my way.

Tim, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No thats fine, I caught the clarification in time. I thought there must be a second YG because the first one isn't Sam Smiths.

Tom, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Six-ish for me I think.

Pete, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, I'll aim for six too. See you there!

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

bugger, already arranged other stuff. When are you going to leave Ronan? If indeed you are????

chris, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My mind is made up and I fly home tomorrow on the 15.25 from Heathrow. If you want to get a bite to eat tomorrow lunchtime or something I might be around. Whatever suits, no pressure. I still don't know about tonight, I think I might not be able to come, which is a bit shit as I appreciate you all mobilising.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You might be going off to the Village Chris, but why not pop in for a swift early evening half? You know it makes sense.

Tim, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The same goes for you, Fitzy.

Tim, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronan, my mobile number's at the bottom of all my e-mails. Give me a ring if you're off-line and can't make it. Good luck and eberything.

Anna, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh did you just ring? My phone was under many clothes and socks and I only just found it. If it wasn't you it may have been my parents in which case it was a lucky escape.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

can't really Tim, money's a bit of an issue and I'm in the Stowe at the moment. Although catching up is u&k. You'll be sad to hear also that I'm on the wagon for the month of July (flatmate's thirtieth and trig brother excepted)

chris, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My final offer of accomodation was these two bissexual girls I met at Glasto backstage in the dance area (I jumped across a stream for the stanton warriors afterpartay=I am hardcore). They lived in Walthamstowe and said they wanted someone open minded. Obviously my imagination was working like a child in a Nike factory at this point.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

did they say whereabouts??

no, not me honest, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

location = in your dreams boys

mark s, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm leaving soon so pwease pwease pwease don't cancel this if Ronang can't come.

Graham, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be there, Graham, for what it's worth!

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not me hon, was probably parents. I've had headphones on all day and have been locked into my own little universe.

Anna, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No they never said, one of them texted me yesterday "do you want to come over and have a look" about 3 times the same message so I got a bit scared and replied I'm going back to Dublin, it sounded like that town mouse/country mouse story from when I was 5.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes it was parents, they got back to me to tell me someone rang at home about a job last week, a job in Dublin, it's all working out. And also my lecturer just mailed me to say I'd passed afterall, and it was a big mistake apologies to me. I feel so much better now.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hooray! Sounds like a good excuse for a pint.

Tim, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am getting tempted, I figure I'd have to wait for brother to come home, make arrangement there, and then have a pint or two before returning to Forest Gate. As I say I am still not certain.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Up your butt with a coconut.

Graham, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(um sounds painful Graham! :)) so did you all get there? how was it?

katie, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I went to the Forest Gate. Tis a nice old pub, didn't stay too late, just a few pints. I sort of wanted to thank my brother and that kind of thing and also I had to talk about the wedding a bit because of my sudden decision.

But I'm sure you didn't allow my absence to stop you from getting pissed and lairy. Ktee next time I am over (circa August 10th for wedding) we will have to attend the pub or suchlike.

Ronan, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It happened. Ouch.

Tim, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

tim suddenly became hilarious

mark s, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ruin.
