I don't think it's weird that a kid wrote it at all. Like someone already said, it's a perfect example of kids learning about roles and ways of categorizing people. It's just a sad reflection of WHAT they're learning, which is to police other kinds of people in order to keep them in their place. Which is lower than your place. And that that is important.

hispanic and latino mean two different things, both are correct terminology but are not interchangeable. also i found that particular line item hilarious.

the distinction i was aware of is that hispanic could refer to any spanish speaker from both hemispheres while latino is necessarily confined to ppl from latin america
