i have black jeans. i got a stain on them, right below the knee (a spot of soup). i blotted it with water and patted it dry, and you won't be able to see it, cuz they're black. but i will know it's there.

should i:
1) treat the area with Shout and wash the jeans
2) leave it alone

thanks

Don't know what Shout is, but will it really be necessary to treat it first? just wash normally is my write in vote.

Leave the hell alone.

How can we answer this question when you haven't told us what kind of soup?

"chicken tomato orzo"

If you're feeling that nervous about it, dab the area with a mild detergent solution, maybe some watered-down Woolite, just to cut the grease that might attract dirt in the future. You don't have to worry about how it looks, just lightly sponge the grease off the fibers.

All the jeans I own are black. I don't fuck with blue jeans at all, not since that silly "stonewash oh here's a pocketful of pummice stone in ur new jeans" sillyness. Anyway, I say "2) leave it alone". It's only soup, any residue will come out next time they're washed.

If you can't get the stain out, throw them in the wash with a tiny amount of bleach. Then you will have cool ass beat up jeans. Too bad your favorite black jeans are stained, c'est la vie. I hope you're not too poor to get another pair. Oxyclean is really good for removing stains, though, give it a shot.

so laurel, you're saying i could water down some woolite, apply with cloth and pat dry?

big (surm), Friday, 19 March 2010 17:06 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think it's necessary, but Woolite seems safest for the color if you're not comfortable knowing that you're saving some soup for later on your knee. I am no Steve Shasta about denim, though. I wash it about once a month when it starts to smell, and I put it in the *GASP* dryer, too.

On the subject of black jeans I am still mad that Target no longer sells the 'Bowie Collection'; the black jeans were awesome, slim but not ridic slim. Should have bought more than 2 pair.

I think this is true of everyone. Clothes get dirty when you wear them.

big (surm), Friday, 19 March 2010 18:06 (fifteen years ago)

You have to keep a number of spare bedsheets at hand to throw over their cages at a moment's notice when they start freakin' out. But of course I was referring to the shitting.

ok, a simple spot clean of cold water should do the trick (colder the better). use a little mild detergent if the "soup" is stubborn.
