A weekend wiv ver lads

Tomorrow I'm off to Tallinn for 3 days on my brother in-law's stag weekend. Three days of cheap beer leavened only by a football match against some locals which is bound to result in getting splattered to all 4 corners of the Baltic by local 6 feet 10 tree-munching goliaths. And then there's the Rugby match...

I have slightly warmed to the trip on discovering that there ARE indeed record shops there, although no doubt my furtive attempts to sneak off and record shop will render me the butt of various pranks.

Anyway folks, think of me as I take to the air in Air Estonia's finest 1963 Tupelov.... possibly returning only after a ten stretch in the local stir (How long would you get for stealing a policeman's helmet? Do Estonian rozzers WEAR helmets).

Seriously any advice on clubs an' ting most welcome. I know Anna has been before, but I can't find the thread.

I also flew Air Estonia. There were only 15 people on the whole flight. The cabin crew got bored and just started bringing us drinks for something to do. It was very nice (and not just because I was half-cut by the time I got there).

Biggest club is called Hollywoods and it's in an old cinema. Name sounds very Essex, but it isn't bad. Also the choice of venue for Estonian models (and lots of models come from Estonia) returning home after parading about in Milan etc. Music is fairly mainstream house, but not bad as that goes.

Seafood is lovely.

Look for Thomas the symbol of Tallin on top of the clock towers. If he's facing you when you look up you'll haave good luck.

I went in the winter, but apparently it's very popular with holidaying Finns, Russians and Swedes in the summer. The main square has loads of outdoor cafes.

The pine forests go right down to the sand on the beach. The beach is about a ten minute drive out of town.

Beer, vodka and cigarettes are stupidly cheap.

Thanks Anna - this will come in useful as I have discovered only this evening that I have been nominated 'social secretary' for the trip! I downloaded loads of stuff from the web, and am now the expert. Of course it'll all fall apart after 5 minutes anyway. Estonian models - blimey!
