i can't smoke w/o a drink ne way so the evil nazi laws here took that pleasure away to a extent

rip sarah silverman 3/19/10 never forget (history mayne), Monday, 22 March 2010 16:49 (fifteen years ago)

I pretty much only smoke when I'm drinking now but I enjoy the bonhomie on the freezing terrace outside the pub too much to quit altogether

I can happily smoke w/o alcohol, the vice goes just as well with tea, coffee, sparkling water, etc. Alcohol is extremely difficult to divorce from smoking, however, which is s shame b/c the moderate and pragmatically applied use of booze throughout one's life is far more supportable than a lifetime smoking habit, however judicious.

i voted drink, that only makes you annoying.
smoking is annoying and smelly!

not_goodwin, Saturday, 27 March 2010 00:05 (fifteen years ago)

I voted drinking, because I do it infrequently enough now that it feels like fun when I do. Smoking is just maintenance.

kenan, Saturday, 27 March 2010 00:15 (fifteen years ago)

I wish I could drink infrequently :(

not_goodwin, Saturday, 27 March 2010 00:23 (fifteen years ago)

Might be a thing to look at.

kenan, Saturday, 27 March 2010 01:52 (fifteen years ago)

I also actually enjoy it exactly that much more.

in an immediate, physical kind of way, the act of smoking is more pleasurable than the act of drinking - even if it never feels like having a cigarette has had a positive effect on your evening (though not having had a cigarette might have had a negative effect).

I think there is a little Steve Dallas in all of us. Just like there is a little George Costanza in all of us. It's the part of us that has no claim to righteousness. It's just plain awful. That's the part that makes us all the same.

kenan, Saturday, 27 March 2010 02:24 (fifteen years ago)

Drinking is miles better. The are extremely good companions, though. It's like starting a fish vs chips poll.
