i am off to paris for the weekend (hurrah!) and then back to london on tuesday, and i've just realised that tuesday = the only free weeknight i have in london for the whole of july. also i'm going to be missing freaky trig 2, so tuesday wd be my only chance to meet up with any of you until august. so, does anyone fancy a pint or five in the glasshouse stores or similar next tuesday eve?

new "i hope i have more luck setting this up than graham seems to" answers

toby, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sniffle.

I'm home, we got a new toaster and a new cheese grater. The grater is triangular. The toaster is pretty run of the mill. Apparently it's rained every day in Dublin since I've been away. How long before I start cursing Dublin again? About ten minutes.

Ronan, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Five pounds says Katie already has other plans.

Graham, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We were missing you even before you went, Ronan.

I am probably on for next Tuesday, wherever. Tim was very vociferous last night about wanting us to go to a different pub every time, so he might object to the Glasshouse Stores and have another suggestion. I'm not fussed if it is anywhere near comparably central.

Martin Skidmore, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll probably make it to this one! Glasshouse Stores is good, as I can go to Tower Records and buy more CDs that I don't really want or need.

jel --, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm not fussed as long as it's a sam smith's. and central. glasshouse stores has the advantage of not being too packed at 6pm...

toby, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

anyway i'm away until tuesday now; so hopefully i'll come back to find a pub plan on this thread...

toby, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

''freaky trig 2''

i am coming back to britain on friday (next week). When is freaky trig happening. Anyone settled on which saturday it was going to take place.

I'll be busy as hell too but I like to have to meet you all, even if i might not be taking part.

Julio Desouza, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

graham you cheeky little scamp! as it happens i am hungover so thinking about pubs = a Bad Idea, but there doesn't seem to be anything in my "date map" for tuesday...

katie, Friday, 5 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Busy next Tuesday I'm afraid. Not sure the different pub every time is a sensible policy for ILX meets anyway.

Apologies for vociferousness. You should have heard me last night, when I got talking to a fellow who works for the M*rcury Music Prize, heh.

Tim, Friday, 5 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

possibly, i'd like to...

gareth, Friday, 5 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am off to paris for the weekend (hurrah!)

Ha! You think that makes me envious, Toby? Ha, I say once more. I've just had the possibility of a day trip to Coventry dangled in front of me by my boss. It's on a Wednesday in October. How can I resist? I suppose I could fake my own death or something...

Martin Skidmore, Friday, 5 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey y'all is this on?

jel --, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm up for meeting at The Glasshouse Stores* around 7, if anyone else is interested.

*Or anywhere else central anyone wants to mention.

Martin Skidmore, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Clearly Toby, everyone hates us.

Graham, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm sickly, so I'll not make this! Sorry! :(

jel --, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah I'll come out tonight, could do with a pint. Not sure when I'll be able to get there though, not before 8 I fear.

Tom, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh this next Tuesday (ie tonight). Sorry, cannae make tonight.

Pete, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

sorry foax i am back at work but still planning an early night

mark s, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I really do fancy a pint but brokeness means perhaps I won't make it, we shall see! If I don't catch up with you tonight Toby hope to see you when you are free again you busy little camper! And tell us your Paris stories! I'm jealous, I'd really like to go there myself...

Sarah, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be there, and

KATIE MUST COME!

Graham, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i ph34r i owe you £5 graham, for 3 hours' sleep last night = i can barely function, let alone drink as well. i want my bed so badly that i've nearly been crying about it all day. i know it looks like i'm avoiding you all cos you SMELL but that is not the case! i will come to the next one! & have a fun time - i know you will! ;)

katie, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

note to toby (and posters generally): relative dates like "next tuesday" work really badly in thread revival. i too cannot make tonight :-(

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I also am too broke! Sorry Toby :( Catch up with you on yr return! NB this means I will have 'gone to ground' all week so no pints for me at all! Sob!

Sarah, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(I sent you an email Katie)

Right, so who else is actually coming?

Graham, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And Glasshouse Stores, right?

Graham, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm still on if a few people are gathering - I can get there around 7, maybe 7.30.

Martin Skidmore, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

can't I'm afraid, money = way too tight, especially with TBii at the weekend.

chris, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(i sent you one back grrrrham but it may not make much sense due to tiredness/work hassles!)

katie, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think Graham was more than a little disappointed to come all the way here and find that I was the only person who turned up. I did try to impersonate Katie to cheer him up*, but it didn't really work.

*This is not true.

Martin Skidmore, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am really really sorry - I ended up getting into London from Oxford at about 9 and just not feeling like going into town, so I went and watched BB at home instead. Apologies to Martin and Graham - I would have posted something on this thread before I left work but it was already past 7 so I thought it would be too late. :(

Tom, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

blimey only 2 people turned up!? well martin at least i'm sure you looked divine in stripey socks ;)

katie, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

K-blimey. I was too broke to make it so joined in with the BB watching, sorry chapZoR...

Sarah, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

we've finally got a new housemate as of last night. rah! shame i plan to move out sept/oct. arf

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So where was Toby - weren't the drink his idea?

(See what happens when you organise drinks outside the auspices of the Fancy A Pint Steering Committee...)

Pete, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, and don't we all know it.

Graham, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh Emma - If you said Hi yesterday I was too distracted listening to Buck's Fizz covers to say anything back, but I did wave.

Graham, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That's alright, I was focusing on my curry and therefore in a bit of a rush.

Emma, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

th-th-there was CURRY? *sobs into jar of organic "amazake" that looked like it would be "interesting" and - hey! - is*

katie, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There was curry for my mate's birthday celebrations Katie, nothing to do with this lot. There is always curry somewhere, take heart.

Emma, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry guys, work mentalism continues.

Anna, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

a million apologies - train delayed from paris + had to go to a 3 hour lecture + internet access down at home + suddenly being called away to cambridge to teach at a few hours' notice + aaarrrrghhhh. v v sorry.

toby, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, Martin, Graham, it was lovely meeting both of you: it's a shame no one else turned up the one night I popped by.

nabisco%%, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

didn't dave q turn up again too?

, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I forgot as well, sorry.

DG, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha ha sorry that was a terrible joke. I'll be going now.
