this might be the first WF movie i've anticipated since... well pretty much ever.

Okay, that trailer is pretty damn funny.

Yes, it's easily the best film McKay/Farrell have done.
― litel, Friday, 13 August 2010 07:18 (fifteen years ago)
you must be the other guy
― dyao, Friday, 13 August 2010 12:52 (fifteen years ago)
this movie was awesome.
"you learned how to dance sarcastically?"
― plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Friday, 13 August 2010 13:18 (fifteen years ago)
i was disappointed.
but the shark/lion conversation was funnythe dance scene was funnythe 'plain wife' comments were funny

so it was awesome and disappointing

Michael Keaton dropping TLC references was the best part of this movie.
― ô_o (Nicole), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:07 (fifteen years ago)
movie was way way better than I expected. Will Ferrell is at his funniest when he plays mild-mannered prudes. not to say he didn't go OTT in this one, but he didn't spend the entire movie there, and when he got there, it was funny.
― plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:18 (fifteen years ago)
"I don't want no scrubs""Oh come on...."
the way SLJackson and the Rock were dispatched was pretty awesome imo
― Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Tuesday, 31 August 2010 14:52 (fifteen years ago)
this film was crazy
don't think it's quite as good as 'step brothers' (via pg-13 rating?), but p f'ing epic all the same
although their death scene was amazing, i think they shd have kept samuel l jackson and the rock in the movie as antagonists instead of riggle and wayans

I saw that Johann Hari liked it. I knew I should have seen it rather than 'Made in Dagenham'

peter bradshaw is SUCH a DICK
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/sep/16/the-other-guys-review
even in the midst of giving it five stars -- tbh it's more a four -- he still manages to fuck up
their movie often looks like a 107-minute comedy sketch, and I laughed throughout. McKay will cheerfully sacrifice narrative and character consistency for a joke.
this is so much less true of 'the other guys' than any other mckay-ferrell film
wonder which 'boogie nights' star ferrell will team up with next
wahlberg > reilly imo
― laughing out loud lol (history mayne), Sunday, 3 October 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)
I dunno I'd say Ferrell stays on game more in Talladega Nights than this one (though Ricky Bobby made sense hollering Ferrell-by-numbers "I NEED AN MRI" shit more than his character did in this)

This film is hilarious pretty much from start to finish.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 12:24 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah loved the shit out of it. And that's even though my enjoyment was wrecked by the idiot behind me who spent the whole movie sleeping and snoring! I tried to wake him up like 5 times and the guy just kept on snoring. At one point, I think all the people in the theater were turned towards me trying to wake up the damn dude rather than towards the film... why the fuck would you go and see a movie and spend 10 bucks if its to sleep and annoy everybody?
― Jibe, Saturday, 6 November 2010 00:04 (fifteen years ago)
i love adam mckay, man
i feel like i could write an undergrad thesis paper on the feminist filmmaking of adam mckay, and it wouldn't necessarily make any sense but it would be written

my bisexual college student brother said our parents lol'd really loudly at michael keaton talking about how his son was exploring his bisexuality at college, but probably they were just really excited to see michael keaton back on film. like mother and father, like daughter!!!

That one scene with Samuel Jackson and The Rock (you know which one I mean) is the funniest thing I saw in the year 2010. Rest of the movie is pretty good, too.
― Tuomas, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 12:23 (fourteen years ago)
this was great! a couple of bum scenes (Eva Mendes ugh) notwithstanding. great cast.

i feel like this didn't totally sink in the one time i watched it and i'll have to let it grow on me once they start running it on cable all the time. the deleted scenes of Michael Keaton riffing are awesome though.

this was great!
― am0n, Monday, 18 April 2011 20:27 (fourteen years ago)
she's a terrible actress. everything I've seen her in is made worse by her presence. her one scene with Ferrell where he flahbacks to being a pimp (which was funny by itself) and have a fight was just awful.
― All this information makes America phat (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 18 April 2011 20:28 (fourteen years ago)
the scene where they talk about 'you've got mail' was funnie... don't really rate ferrell alongside the great thespians tbh!
― a random quote of mine abt a shitty rapper (history mayne), Monday, 18 April 2011 20:29 (fourteen years ago)
Ferrell's not a great actor, but he is funny. Eve Mendes is not funny, nor is she a good actress.

EM is kind of a weird non-entity, like she's really famous but she's barely been in any notable movies and tends not to be at all memorable in them
― steendriving is very bad - but I got a fake ID though! (some dude), Monday, 18 April 2011 20:36 (fourteen years ago)
i approve of eva mendes being in any movie i want to see but don't want to take seriously
