So early sexual tension, now v. close friends. But Anya and Tara are out of the picture. What do you think, will they fuck?

anthony, Sunday, 7 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I hope so. I always thought there was some tesion between X and Tara actually... y'know down here we're only up to the 4th episode of this season though.

Andrew, Sunday, 7 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Kitten Jihad will not allow it.

Nicole, Sunday, 7 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

SPOILERS people

Graham, Sunday, 7 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Kitten Jihad

There's a band name for ya.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 7 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oops read a spoiler. Oh well who doesn't. As long as Giles doesn't die I'm happy.

Elisabeth, Sunday, 7 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i knew i shouldn't have read this.

di, Sunday, 7 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ahh cover my eyes - to late read it now - but didnt they already have a fling way back

ducklingmonster, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The latest I heard on season 7 hasn't even brought this issue up and TBH I don't think it will. They have far more interesting things to do with Xander and Willows characters than a 'will they won't they', or at least I hope so. But god knows what depths Marti Noxon is still capable of plummeting too...

Sarah, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oi! you should know better, anthony (or what di said)

Jeff W, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

As we all know Buffy is actually all about Xander and therefore as Willow represents the "female friend who had crush on you who you didn't notice" archetype he cannot get together with her happily. Such are the laws of primetime TV drama (they can get together for a couple of episodes, but it will be unsatisfying).

Pete, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I *heart* Willow!

jel --, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

will they fuck? will they FUCK! um, isn't Willow like all gay and shit?

Alan, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well alang unless Oz was a womang in disguise...

katie, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ugh no that came across as me saying willow isn't really gay and i didn't mean that. i mean she could be *whispers* bisexual... or just fancy, y'know, nice people!

katie, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Everyone in the show seems to have forgotten about Oz (and it wasn't any kind of platonic relationship she had with him, there were "bits" involved and everything) which makes me go very GRRRR.

Then again, they forgot about Dre as well.

Sarah, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Willow is in fact polysexual as Tara is more bovine than female humang (ha ha). No I changed my mind abt Tara cos I like her more from what I've seen of her in season 6. Her dress in Once More With Feeling though!

ARF!

Sarah, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is here:

(nb this site has spoilers and loads of screen grabs from seasons 5-6 so don't look unless you wanna be spoilt..)

Sarah, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

NO! I heart Willow, Xander be dammed.

Mr Noodles, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i don't see much buffy, so didn't know willow was bi! fantastic. she is a flake (willow-phoebe to xander-chandler) and so i don't heart her. i would fuck her though. (alan swears shock). is she real or just a character in a tv series played by an actress?

Alan T, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Willow is not a flake! Unless being a flake == having ph34rs0m3 haX0r skills + potentially universe destroying levels of magical ability.

RickyT, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

why do i bother with buffy threads? i have no bloody clue do i. it would probably be a really entertaining show -- if they could take out the vampires, the next-generation pastie-headed demons and the attempts at humour.

(I am actually in a good mood. i want to piss you off. come on. let's have a fight)

Alan T, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan you are always swearing these days!

jel --, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not as much as Sophie Ellis-Bextourettes...

Alan T, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

FILTH.

RickyT, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Doesn't Tara redeem herself entirely in Once More With Feeling the Wacky Broadway Nightmare hands?

Graham, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

y'all are so mean to tara!

Josh, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

FInally saw the musical Buffy episode... I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THAT SHOW BECAUSE ALL OF THOSE SONGS WERE WRITTEN FOR MY RANGE. I'd be a much better Xander, anyway.

What's the deal with Anya, anyway? Where did she come from?

Dan Perry, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tangentially, can someone please explain Tara's stutter? In early episodes she has this horrendous fake stutter in tense situations (to Willow, during return of Oz: "You should be with the one you luh, luh, love") but now it's (thankfully) gone. Was this a character point or just bad bovine acting? Was she cured? (NB I'm slowly warming to her, sometimes she's sort of alluringly bovine.) (But Anya is still better than everyone: and her fluffy kicking in the musical!) (And the bunnies!)

nabisco%%, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh c'mon, now: Big Brother can't possibly be so much better than Buffy that daily meg-big BB threads sit alongside dead unanswered B ones. Talk about Buffy.

nabisco%%, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

good god quit saying 'bovine'

Josh, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Call her MooCow instead!

Dan Perry, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

milky milky!!!

katie, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Y'all think I'm joking about the kitten jihad but I am serious. There are people that have threatened to harm and/or kill Joss Whedon and certain Buffy writers because of some of the Season 6 plotlines. Now I can understand thinking a show has gone to poo, but this strikes me as a wee bit disturbed.

Nicole, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

link?

Graham, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Leave the Mod Squad out of this, Graham. (Okay, that was poor even by my standards, sorry.)

Dan Perry, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

when is buffy on? i haven't watched it since the first season and am curious thanks to all you people.

Maria, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How the hell is this bovine?:

Graham, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I really like Tara - I think her original one-dimensionality was a fault of the writing as opposed to the acting, as her improvement during season 5 and season 6 seemed entirely related to the expanded sphere of her involvement, allowing her more stuff to do. The stutter thing was supposed to relate to her lack of confidence if I recall, and it's gone now because she's no longer unconfident, although it returns at odd moments.

The interesting thing about season 6 has been how Willow and Tara's roles have been reversed, with Willow becoming much more emotionally dependent and practically everyone deferring to Tara's wisdom.

Also it should be noted that Willow seems to refer to herself as a lesbian (as opposed to anything else) more and more frequently, suggesting to me that her sexuality shift is somewhat permanent with or without Tara in the picture. In the last episode here the conversation implied that she had foresaken the comfort of men in favour of, ahem, "girl on girl action". Actually it's rather impressive just how many jokes the writers have managed to squeeze out of the couple's "lesbian consciousness" (if you can call it that) without either totally stuffing it up or coming off offensive (see also that episode in Season 6 where the Watchers came back and Willow and Tara had to describe their relationship).

Tim, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is it just me, or is 'Buffy' getting more radical politically? The wedding episode seemed almost Dworkinesque, and there was a really strong (even hectoring anti-capitalist episode a few episodes before). That- despite the uneven writing quality- has made this season really interesting. Though I can't forgive some of the abysmal episodes of the (approx) second quarter of the season.

charles m, Monday, 8 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I believe it's Marti Noxon responsible for the most horrific 'magick is a DRUUUUG kids' storylines, the most terrible handling of a plotline EVER?! I was so hoping it wasn't coming as I read the recaps but NO...

Sarah, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

aww graham and josh but i think our whole beef* with Tara isn't that she's not incredibly pretty because she is and that's a damn good photo. it was just the moocow EYES which seemed to be her only expression for quite a long time... well that's my interpretation of it anyhow. however i haf only seem season 4 and bits and bobs of season 5.

* = HAHAHAHHAA!

katie, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And her character just seemed so placid... and grazing...

Sarah, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

INT. COMMONS - DAY

Willow and Tara enter the commons, blending in and looking around at the same time. Willow's checking the milling college crowd for Faith's presence.

WILLOW: Thanks again for coming with. Hunting a sociopath super-bitch is definitely in the "above and beyond" department.

TARA: Moooo.

WILLOW: Run. Flee. Maybe skedaddle. We're not here to engage. This is strictly recon.

Tara smiles, trying to hide how amused she is.

WILLOW: What?

TARA: Moooooo.

WILLOW: Well, technically, Faith's not a monster, and as for fighting? I'd be lucky if I bruise her fist with my face.

TARA: Mooooo. Moo.

WILLOW: What?

TARA: Moo. Mooooo.

WILLOW: Swimming?

TARA: Moooo!

WILLOW: Don't worry - we're sure to spot her first. Faith's like some big cleavage-y slutbomb walking around all ... "Check me out, I'm wicked cool, I'm five-by-five."

TARA: Mooo?

WILLOW: That's the thing - no one knows. Buffy can handle Faith. And you're plenty safe with me.

Tara nods, believing it.

TARA: Moo ... Mooooo?

WILLOW: Then the ritual hiding begins.

nabisco%%, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Also could she possibly have moved, posed, or emoted any more slowly than she used to? "")

nabisco%%, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

[/Xandler]

I mean, I love her now, but geez.

nabisco%%, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

bwahaha nabiscuh has PROVEN IT BY SCIENCE!!

katie, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Has he proven Tara = MooCow or Xander = Chandler?

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Xander's problem is he is the modern day Ducky.

Mr Noodles, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
