wikipedia plot outlines if you feel the need to make an informed choice. Skipped stuff that didn't have a male lead or had already been turned into a TV episode or movie. Kept some stuff in turnaround or pre-production.

The Jaunt
The Library Policeman
Morning Deliveries (Milkman #1)
The Ballad Of The Flexible Bullet
The Long Walk
Chattery Teeth
The Moving Finger
The Ten O'Clock People
Insomnia
Rose Madder
Bag Of Bones
Cell
Stationary Bike
Duma Key
Willa
The Things They Left Behind
Ur
Under The Dome
Blockade Billy

lol are there really no king-heads here? admittedly i've only read a few of these short stories and none of the later books except for insomnia.

I went for Gunslinger without even blinking

Too young for "Duma Key," plus he'd have to play an amputee. "Bag of Bones" seems appropriately maudlin and melodramatic for him.

The Long Walk with Thomas Jane is tempting.

tbh I stopped reading King halfway through Gerald's Game, aka The Novel That Taught Me It Was Okay To Tell A Book To Fuck Off And Never Finish It

IIRC, Insomnia is even worse than Gerald's Game. But his work has gotten significantly better again in recent years.

Voting Bag of Bones just because I remember liking that book pretty well.

I voted voted Dark Tower franchise, because if the Lost dudes made it into a mini-series (as was once rumored) then I'd never have to actually read it.

can't wait for the critical rediscovery of the "bachman books"

nitzer Ed (s1ocki), Monday, 3 May 2010 18:16 (fifteen years ago)

I remember reading that when I was visiting my grandparents in Lancaster, PA. Really, nothing says summer reading to me like S. King.

Not sure what to vote for since I fell behind long ago, but I will admit to watching (and enjoying) The Mist 2x.

xp: King took The Bachman Books out of print as a complete set, because "Rage" had some controvesial connections to school shootings.

huh! tikuuta. (kingkongvsgodzilla), Monday, 3 May 2010 18:22 (fifteen years ago)

voted Long Walk since its one of the only stories I remember.

sofatruck, Monday, 3 May 2010 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

oh man, "Rage" is amazing
