Too good to be true? White couple have black twins

I didn't read this story, simply because it would have involved buying he Daily Mail, which is a bad thing.

However, the Headline and subtitle told you it all.

The story seemed to be that a white couple have IVF treatment but a mistake in process leads to wrong embryos being implanted. The couple start bringing up the black twins but the originally intended recipients of the embryos sue for custody.

It's just the perfect middle-england hysteria story. Paul Dacre must have creamed his knickers when he saw it. It's got everything a good Mail story has in one tidy bunch:

- IVF as scientific folly messing with 'nature' - Bungling health-service professionals - White male fear of black child (she's been shagging a black man) - A twist! They'd been good whites and kept it between themselves and yet still they were black! (Oh no! Cruel mistress of fate!) - The black parents want them back! (Typical! Always taking what belongs to good whitefolks!)

Golly. There must have been a few disgusted people commuting to work this morning.

The thing about this story is that the only reason they found out about the mix up was because the baby was a different colour to the parents. So it could have happened LOADS of times before and nobody noticed just because the parents and the babies were the same colour.

Isn't this about the third baby mix-up in the last couple of weeks? One mother was given the wrong baby to breast feed, another buried the wrong baby and now a woman gave birth to the wrong baby! Blimey!

I remember reading a story somewhere (probably in Believe It Or Not!) about a white couple having a black baby.

Apparently there was a black guy who went to a pro, then the white guy went to the pro and because she still had some of the black guy's sperm in her it got on the white guys dick and then he went home and porked his wife thus transmitting the black guy's sperm into her and his sperm must have been fast swimmers or strong because it was one of them that fertilised her ovum.

How cool is that? I wonder how many babies have be conceived that way? Probably accounts for some of the discrepencies that have previously caused women to be accused as hoes (is that the plural of ho?).

actually not, the plural is HOEZ

The legal issues are fascinating in this case and heartbreaking for both the couples involved (especially when you consider the cost and success rate of IVF - with a 10-15% for each treatment and the cost of each treatment it is more than possible that the blak family have been unable to have kids yet). It appears the black family are the biological parents (after all this could have also happened if the white womans egg had been impregnated by the balck fathers sperm) but the white woman has carried the child full term. I think the mistake would have been picked up pretty much at birth, so it appears both couples want to keep the babies. The only legal precedents in the UK might be under surrogacy - which is not covered by law which would suggest that the white parents may have legitamacy here (not the case in the States). However it appears the court date has been set in October which seems an awfully long time to wait. I assume the IVF clinic will get sued to high heaven anyway.

Still I can't help but feeling that maybe a judgement of Solomon might work better here since there are two babies... And before you say its an inhumane thing to do, that is pretty much the plot of The Parent Trap.

Homo Sapiens Sapiens gives birth to Neanderthals. My commiserations to the poor couple.

Here's hoping it was a BNP couple.

"Homo Sapiens Sapiens gives birth to Neanderthals. My commiserations to the poor couple."
What the fuck?! I've read this like four times and I can't see what you could have meant by that other than something completely offensive. Will you 'splain, pls.?

I think you might be on to a loser asking splat@boom.com to justify such a stupid remark. Though isn't that the plot of Stig OF The Dump (without the insidious racial angle Mr Splat invoked above).

Pete, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Of course I`ll explain! I was offering my commiserations to a Cro Magnon - type couple who had given birth to Neanderthals. Not, stupid - true. Offensive? Well, yes if you`re offended by awkward truths!
